AKG K240 Studio Review: Shattering Expectations Since A Long Time Ago - Home Studio Basics

homestudiobasics.com

The AKG K240 Studio Headphones offer exceptional sound quality for under $100, with a natural mid-range and detailed treble that make music listening a revelation. While the build feels flimsy and the ear cups can be shallow, these headphones are comfortable for extended use. Bass is articulate but may lack impact for those accustomed to bass-heavy headphones. Ideal for genres like Jazz and Classical, they especially shine with Motown and Soul. Despite minor drawbacks, the K240 remains a quintessential studio headphone, delivering lifelike sound that belies its budget price.

AKG K240 Studio review - SoundGuys

soundguys.com

The AKG K240 Studio headphones are a budget-friendly choice for those prioritizing sound quality without breaking the bank. With a semi-open design, they deliver accurate sound reproduction, especially excelling in vocal clarity. However, they fall short in the sub-bass department and exhibit questionable durability due to their plastic build. While comfortable and lightweight, making them suitable for long studio sessions, their sound leakage and lack of portability options limit them to quiet environments. Overall, they are a solid pick for budget-conscious audiophiles and studio professionals but may leave bass enthusiasts and frequent travelers wanting more.

AKG K240 Studio headphones review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The AKG K240 Studio headphones strike a classic design with a spacey, detailed sound, ideal for mixing and non-bass focused listening at moderate levels. Their comfort and retro-modern look are high points, but they falter with poor isolation and a lack of punch, requiring hard driving to reach desired volumes. Delicate build and minimal accessories limit their studio suitability, and they aren't ideal for noisy environments or bass-heavy music. While offering great value for specific uses, there are more versatile options available for broader studio and casual use.

Solid Mixing headphones

Between these and the Sony MDRs I feel much more confident in the accuracy of these. The lows and the lower mids can come across deceiving muddy but at least you can hear all of them. Exemplary of a entry level full flat response studio headphone. I feel confident in my EQ moves bouncing between these and my monitors. Essential to me for doing an accurate headphone pass.

Cheap but very good

Very good headphones for checking mix space after working on speakers.

freezingmoon94

Good quality headphones.

Not that bad. For the price, this is pretty good. A little expensive for some, but still pretty good for the features:

  • A 3.5mm jack

  • A 6.35mm adapter

T

I like it but...

Build quality is crap, but is the most confiable (maybe only one) headphones to mixing. A can reach quickier results using this and a laptop than my Hs80 and interface in the sutdio.
