The Hello-Thread: Please Allow Me To Introduce Myself šŸ‘‹

Welcome!! I also started by playing in church and met a lot of my best musical friends there, I'm sure you'll find people out there if you keep at it.

resurfaced recordings of my band in my 20s, DOg & Pony, the loudest band in Philly... ever

Off-topic, but a late '70s Silverface Twin just landed in my lap with at least one blown speaker. Do you know what mods you did Jim? It's a blank slate at the moment.

Brand collaboration gear

Any updates?

Brands with special characters?

Should Rode be on here as Røde? Or Hofner just be Höfner?

[Feature Request] Era / Year that Artist Had Gear

This is an awesome idea.

after dog n pony, under your bed doing love slut

Me neither with Sean, but I saw a video of him with Geordie Greep and feel like I can’t escape him in my algorithm now. Guess I’m a real rectangle.

I heard a lot of people call it Steely Dan on crack, but I thought it was a little more Robert Fripp like or just 70’s prog influenced while sounding quite new. Guess it lives up to the name.

Speaking of Geordie Greep, have you ever seen the guy he brings onstage to sing his rectangle song?

Archetype: John Mayer X - Who’s trying it?

That’s 100% valid, I agree with you for recording and improvising, anything analog is more fun, even vintage solid states, and digital fatigue is very much real. I think one of the best low-medium gain amps I’ve played was a Bludotone Bludo-Drive, but I’ve also played Two Rocks that felt a little flat and characterless. Have you ever heard a Dave West amp? Someone down the road from me used to have one and I missed getting it by minutes.

Coming through monitors in a control room, I'd say a great amp sim can fool me into thinking it's the mic'd up amp in an ISO box down the hall. So I'm not surprised if he couldn't tell the difference; it's just a different use case. This one intrigues me cause it seems very focused on the mid-gain clean breakup thing, and I think one of SRV's Dumbles.

Oh shoot, forgot to respond but good stuff Jim. I agree about Dove Ellis, the good parts are there but some of it feels less memorable. I saw Magnolia Electric Co reunite the other week and it was a super solid show, planning to see Geese, Nine Inch Nails, and Geordie Greep next year.

You might also like Dove Ellis, who's on tour with them at the moment. There's also a lot of overlap with them and MJ Lenderman fans, but he's a little more like a Gen Z mix of Jason Molina, Wilco, and hints of Dinosaur Jr.

As someone with little experience in amp sims, does anyone have any thoughts? Is this where tube purists and modern technology converge or just a cash grab?

As far as great concerts Phoenix 1978 is one of my favorites, and there’s great footage on YouTube. The Ballad of Jesse James, The Promise, This Hard Land, Pink Cadillac, Fire, Thundercrack, his cover of Jersey Girl, and his version of Because the Night all come to mind as great tunes that didn’t originally make it to albums. I’d also recommend the Seeger Sessions after listening to his classic run for a very different flavor of Bruce which is what I grew up hearing. Darkness on The Edge of Town is also another good starting point if you want something more guitar heavy, especially when you realize Adam Raised a Cain is basically Voodoo Child.

Oh rad, I'm one of those Gen Z'ers who likes them, I think they have that Springsteen thing where they aren't for everyone, but they're a ridiculous talent that will only get better with time. I've been a fan since 3D Country, so you were definitely early to the boat.

Brand collaboration gear

Another factor is old gear that was sold under multiple brand names but built by the same OEM, but this seems less common today.

We have 83 different entries for Gibson Les Paul Studio...

This is looking good, @michael?

Adding Gear

Yeah!! It’s been working for me too!

Adding Gear

Nah, I’m only getting to the part where it says ā€œIf you're sure you're adding a unique product, press Next at the bottom.ā€

Then I hit next and see the plain old 500 error.

Adding Gear

I’ve been trying to add the Clark Gainster, with the simple title ā€˜Clark Gainster’ and this link here: http://www.clarkamplification.com/gainster.html

I have also tried Clark Amps Gainster and Clark Gainster Overdrive.

Adding Gear

I’m still not having any luck adding items from independent sellers, just seeing the same 500 error.

I will say I've noticed a similar trend with Lonestar, Lonestar Deluxe and Eric Clapton Stratocasters, but have already submitted a bunch to be merged. Will probably go back over and make sure I didn't miss any.

I’ve had the same issue, commenting to stay on this thread.

Oof. I’d say the Baritones definitely stay separate, but that’s a lot to process.

Its Turkey Day in the USA... what's the biggest turkey of an instrument or piece of gear you've ever owned?!

Now amps is a different story, my first amp was a tiny Rogue bass amp (maybe 5 watts) with a two prong power cable and a constant hum that was about the same volume as any other output. Got it with a great Korean Strat I still have, need to play it more often. Also had a Fender Mustang II I blew the speaker in when I was 15 and some real duds as far as pedals go.

I’ve yet to have any guitar that I considered beyond saving, but certainly some that weren’t for me. Happy thanksgiving everyone @gchiaren @michael @jimmarchi1 @hashimoto @pkennethk @shiba_inu_jedi @edgedancer etc.

I haven't been able to get it work with the update either, also getting a 500 error.

Behringer Centaur, Centara, or Zentara

No real revisions, just rebranding. I know we have some limited editions on here that are mere paint jobs, but I think these options could be added just like we added paint colors to guitars recently.

Behringer Centaur, Centara, or Zentara

Agreed on the "flipping" but I think few people are successfully selling their pre lawsuit Centaurs for double MSRP. What's weird is I've seen people order them after they supposedly changed the name and get the Centaur version, I don't think I've heard of anyone actually getting the Centara or Zentara out in the wild.
