“What I wanted to achieve was the J-20 sound without the reverb and the trem”: Thorpy FX teams up with boutique amp specialist Lazy J to give guitarists premium vintage Tweed tone in a pedal | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

In a saturated market of amp-in-a-box pedals, the ThorpyFX x Lazy J "The J" stands out by delivering a vintage Tweed-era Fender tone, sans reverb and tremolo. This collaboration between ThorpyFX and Lazy J offers a unique sound experience, reminiscent of the mid-'50s Fender amps, perfect for rock 'n' roll enthusiasts. While it may not replicate the full experience of an amp moving air, it does capture the essence of the J-20 combo amp's drive and tone. With dual channels and straightforward controls, it's a premium choice for those seeking boutique Tweed tone in a pedal format. However, at £329/$366, it's a significant investment for a pedal, albeit a compelling one for its niche sound.

Incredible Tweed tones

Incredible Tweed tones. Takes a bit of fiddling to make it a genuinely two-channel pedal given how interactive the controls are. But worth it!
