Congrats man! For those of us who don't know (including myself), how will this propel your career? Where will you go from here (label, selling your music yourself etc.)?

Last book I went through was the Leah Remini book, "Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology".
I dug it. I was most interested in all the spooky cult stuff.
And here's me desperately trying to find a way to tie this in to the thread that became about Eyes Wide Shut.

Where is the very first place that new music is accessible to the public????
I'm not entirely sure about this, but I think some artist release some of their stuff on their Soundcloud before the label does.

Not really my style but I like the idea.
On another note(!), perhaps we can make a thread where we share our music. For feedback and stuff. That way there'll be less hesitation etc.

I'm a deep house music and house music producer.... Hello everybody :)
With your name being "stereo" "Stereo delay" xD
I thought that was the joke there.... I was going to ask him which channel is later
I didn't even think about that! I really should start using my username for more jokes.

Welcome... I'm the guy that's always late.
I really think there's a pun here
Not sure if you see anything there, but nope. It is true though. I've always been kinda late for stuff, and I commented on this post three days after the last guy.

Not sure why this year, but Aphex Twin is venerated in the IDM community, and beyond. Calvin Harris released an album in 2015 and had quite a few hit songs off of that, besides for the numerous ones he's had over the years. Mark Ronson had a pretty popular album in 2015, went to the top of the UK charts.

Quite possible that I was here trying to find a plugin Avicii used in a video (free plugin called Glitch). I don't remember how I found this site for a second time.

I think I remember when it used to look like this! How long ago was this?

I wish I would've had the chance to meet him. Seemed like a really cool guy.

Zedd is a classically trained pianist and it really shows. His big hits have more interesting chord progressions than most ''mainstream'' Edm, but still have that pop/dance ''feel'', which I love and try hard to duplicate. On his latest album True Colors he shows off his music theory knowledge very well, doing some crazily interesting things, although they sound less... easy to listen to. What I'm referring to is that thing that makes chord progressions such as i-VI-III-VII, or I-IV-VI-V very popular. They have a simplicity that's addictive. Zedd manages to get that feeling whilst doing some interesting things, except in True Colors (album, not song) where he goes a bit crazier (particularly the track Addicted to a Memory).

Most important musical city in the world?
I'd say these days more than ever, due to the accessibility. Specifically with software vs hardware, but even with ''real'' instruments, these days there a lot of cheap options you can start off with. Wouldn't you say that years ago you had more people hanging around music shops, using the stuff there rather than having some at home?

Did you sing/play to a certain tempo? I want to bring it into my DAW soon and lay down some rhythm, bass, chords, etc.
10yover 10 years ago
I don't see it. All I see is your intro, and Jimmy's gnarly synth line.

Thanks! I may actually need to take you up on that offer, eventually. Weird how this thread started off about an experimental reverb.

Yeah, I'm going to have to work something nuts to pull it off, but I don't really have anything else to do. I'm naturally able at math, but you've still actually got to go through everything and spend time on it. My writing... well I guess you can see from here; not very good. The college that I'm going to should have some help for catching up etc. so hopefully I'll make it through alive.
And yes, I can use all the free advice I can get.

Ah, I'm not really planning on making a living from music. Unless I ''blow up'' in the EDM scene that is (the chances of that happening aren't high enough to plan life around that though). I did do the skip high school thing though. Probably more thoroughly than most teenagers. For different reasons though. I'm getting my GED and going to college next semester.
I woulda become an intellectual property lawyer.
Yeah, music being heavily connected to that, makes sense.
Edit: Sorry for all the periods ;)

You had a studio job already then?! Way to make me jealous. I almost got an intern job this past summer for a real professional, experienced, recording/mixing/mastering engineer (I think mixing was his main thing), but he couldn't do it in the end.

Oh yeah, I remember that auto-chord thing. It feels great to be able to reminisce at 17!

I grew up around cheap Casio keyboards. Remember those kiddie keyboards that came with like 50 ''styles''? Now it's Yamaha that makes those. Almost everyone in my family played around on those.

Didn't you say you were in a band though? You were around a bunch of other musicians and their gear. I don't even live near a musical instruments store.

I'm sorry. I don't know a thing about guitars. Never played one, and never was around anyone who seriously played.

Confusing a 330 and 335 is like confusing a tele custom and a tele deluxe.
It sure is. Both mean nothing to me.

If the sites mainly for finding other people to work with, then we don't really need that, since we seem to have enough people right here (and it's supposed to be an EquipBoard thing...).

For the record, I am still learning, and I can tell you guys know much more theory than I. So, this is a learning process for me.
The same for me, probably even more so. I traded in leaning about theory for learning about technicalities (synthesis etc.) and it shows. I barely knew what in the world you guys were talking about, although once I get in front of a piano (or piano roll!) I should be able to get most of it straightened out. Time to get back into some theory.
10yover 10 years ago
Haha, yeah. I guess I just don't like to have people waiting until I get something done.
10yover 10 years ago
Sounds good. I can't do anything until Sunday though. Maybe try to work on some other aspects until then. Chords, harmonies, composition.
10yover 10 years ago
I didn't necessarily mean their dance stuff. They have some more ballad-y style songs. In any case, it sounds pretty good, although maybe we could go with some different chords (particularly in the beginning) since the ones you went with sound pretty dark. Also, are the words ''Already getting late to choose'' and then those chords the entirety of the chorus? It feels like it needs a bit more...
I don't play the piano, but if you send me a MIDI file with the chords you want I can try to program the piano manually.

Most important musical city in the world?
I'd say these days it's the Basements area. Specifically Parent's Basement.
10yover 10 years ago
I'd totally be into doing some sort of pop or electronic arrangement once you have a basic layout with temp vox. Doesn't have to necessarily be completely electronic sounding. Think of some of the Marron 5 stuff.

"i use this to make beats, yo!"
Did you take that from somewhere? Plagiarism...
I'm ashamed that I haven't written that many reviews. I just can't think of what to write about. Most of the stuff I have I'm either waiting to get something better, or I'm just not well enough versed in to say anything about. e.g. ''Maximus; a multi-band compressor.'' Now what...

cool... actually, there was the PSP piano verb given away free as an experiment... love that one, not sure if its still around
Yep it's till out for free. They also made a paid version ($49) based on the free one.

Speaking of reviews, wasn't there some sort of a plan to halt, and maybe even get rid off bad reviews?

Seems like an interesting idea. I don't know of any other crowd sourcing like this done with other music-related software (without anyone needing to have any programming knowledge). I'm assuming that even if they decide to sell it one day, testers would get it for free or at a reduced price.
