Whoa! That seems like a LOT of work, unless you have some sampled stuff you can spare?

How does that work legally?

I'm basically looking for something that could replace Kontakt (which I don't have) in terms of it's orchestral sounds. Does anyone have the Nexus' Hollywood 3 Epic Collection Expansion? How does that hold up against some other leading names? Anyone have anything else?

Oh I see that you have Harmor. Check out the preset ''Analog 2''. That's basically it but I don't know how Harmor works (besides that it uses additive synthesis) so I cant deconstruct the preset. Maybe you can do that?

(I can't use Harmor because I only have the demo, and I'm not going to buy it just for one preset:)

Okay, that was pretty unintelligible to me. First off: What is an oberhiem? Also I have no idea what synths you're referring to. I just need the basic technique. I know it's some sort of wave with a fast decay envelope on the cutoff of a LP filter, but I can't seem to get that thick sound.

Great points. Your second point was exactly what the guy in the video i mentioned was saying.

I think anybody can hit on a good idea once in a while, but for the most part some people are just born more creative. I myself am more technical than creative and i sometimes feel as if ''all the good ideas are taken'':) But there are ways to stimulate creativity; i watched a great video by graham cochrane on the idea that if you change some thing from your routine it can stimulate creativity. I've seen it myself; i just downloaded the update for FL Studio and i just found myself making more and better music. (it might just be the better GUI.)

regarding the sub forum thing i guess whichever works. i just think it would be more organized if it's a little separate. you have threads in reddit, for example in ''how to get that sound'' that are just lines of unconnected conversations. it seems really messy.

regarding the second suggestion, i was thinking of something more like popup ads on specific kind of gear that the user is into. of course it shouldn't obstruct content from the site or be majorly annoying but just so users can see the latest deals.

Hi guys. i was thinking of two ideas for the site that might be cool. 1) maybe we can have some sort of sub-forum where members can analyze different tracks(organized by genres) to improve their production. 2) we could have some sort of sidebar or whatever with the latest sales in gear and plugins, submitted by members for gear points just like any other submission. (maybe you could have it show different sales based on user perefrences. (like if i'm into production it'll show plugin sales as opposed to if i'm into guitars it'll show me the latest guitar gear sales)

I'm not sure if this will help, since you seem to be into hardware but the Epic Verb free plugin has gotten rave reviews. (not sure if it's available for mac though)

thanks simfonik for those links. I've tried all three and it seems to me that it's easy to create a sound from scratch on Cakewalk but it felt a bit limited. With Synthmaster it looks much more complicated but seems to have a better sound to it and looks much more manipulable. (is it possible for one synth to have a better overall sound to it than another?) I haven't got deep into Sylenth yet and it's a bit more expensive.

I'm looking to buy a synth I so far have nexus 2 and fl plugins of these three which do you guys think is better? 1. cakewalk z3ta+ 2. kv331 audio synthmaster 3. sylenth
