About
Pride and Glory was a powerhouse blues rock and southern metal trio that emerged in the mid-'90s, led by the legendary New Jersey guitarist and vocalist Zakk Wylde, known for his tenure with Ozzy Osbourne. The group also featured James LoMenzo on bass and background vocals, and Brian Tichy on drums. Their music was a gritty fusion of blues rock, southern rock, metal, and hard rock, creating a sound that was both raw and electrifying. Despite their brief existence, they left a lasting impact with their self-titled album, showcasing tracks like "The Chosen One" and "Horse Called War."
How to Sound Like Pride and Glory
Pride and Glory's sonic character was unapologetically aggressive and gritty, yet steeped in southern rock warmth. Zakk Wylde’s guitar work was central to the band’s sound, characterized by searing riffs and powerful solos. His Gibson Les Paul Custom "The Rebel", combined with his use of the Boss SD-1 Super OverDrive, delivered a punchy, overdriven tone that cut through the mix with precision. The addition of the Boss CE-5 Chorus Ensemble added a subtle depth and dimension, enhancing the melodic layers. The rhythm section, with LoMenzo’s dynamic bass lines and Tichy's energetic drumming, provided a solid and driving backbone, making their sound both powerful and unyielding.
