This was my second sampler after the Akai s-700. Intuitive interface. Shame about the proprietary RAM cards though. I've never had so much fun juggling floppy disks during my live sets.

This was my very first drum machine, in all its 80s glory. Though its sounds weren't exactly built to last, its armoured outer casing sure was - this is easily the most solid piece of gear in my studio.

The Korg Poly-61 was my introduction to analogue synthesizers. The first time I turned on the arpeggiator I was hooked for life. An underrated classic.

This beast has been pilloried mercilessly by critics since it came out. Some of it is well-deserved. But at the end of the day, it's a fun analogue drum machine with a wonky bass synth that can be tortured into doing some interesting things.

The Alesis MMT-8 (well, two of them, actually) have been at the heart of my live setup since 1998. Sure, they look like an 80s office calculator or fax machine, but they are legendary in the hardware sequencer community for a reason - hands on, easy to edit, and fun to use. They do have their limitations, but they get the job done in spades.
