Bixonic is a Japanese effects pedal brand founded in Tokyo in 1994 by Bright International Corp., with the name combining "BIC" (the company initials) and "sonic." The brand made its mark with the Expandora (EXP-2000), a compact distortion pedal built around a dynamic-range expander circuit using photocouplers, offering multiple voicings including overdrive, crunch, distortion, and a "Forbidden" fuzz mode. A second version, the Expandora II (EXP-2001), followed in 1999, and a reissue (EXP-2000R) appeared in 2004 before the original company wound down production in 2005.

In 2020, Kikusui Electronics Industry — a Japanese manufacturer of precision electronic measuring instruments — acquired the Bixonic trademarks and design assets, relaunching the brand as a new audio division. The revived Bixonic released the Axentrix A1 in 2022, a digital take on the Expandora concept using Kikusui's signal-processing technology, and followed with pedals such as the Axentrix II Clean & Drive and the Sugar Blues overdrive, alongside accessories like the Memory Foot Switch A1-F.

The original Expandora earned a cult reputation in the boutique pedal world for its idiosyncratic tone shaping and picked up a following among professional guitarists and bassists, cementing Bixonic's place as an early boutique distortion name out of Japan.
