Omar Rodríguez-López's Gear
Omar Rodríguez-López used the DigiTech WH-4 Whammy (4th Gen) on his pedalboard with The Mars Volta prior to 2011, as shown in a user-uploaded photo on Guitarplayer.
This Ibanez AX120 was Omar's main guitar during the early years of The Mars Volta and can be seen in many live performance photos.
The ORM-1 guitar is the artist signature guitar for Omar Rodriguez-López which was first introduced in 2008. He has frequently used this guitar live, as such in the photo.
In an Rig Rundown with Omar, he gave some details on the guitar. He says the guitar was made small and simplistic to suit his hand size and standards. He uses 13 gauge, first acquired by accident, and ended up being more comfortable than thinner strings.
Omar Rodríguez-López used the Squier Super-Sonic as his main guitar during his time with At the Drive-In, as evidenced by a photo on Photobucket.
Omar Rodriguez-Lopez poses backstage for a "1 photo and 1 photo only" with his 1974 Fender Mustang that's he's had since 2000. It's been seeing much action these days, it's his main guitar on this tour. Antemasque, The Observatory NP, San Diego, Calif.
Used on various TMV recordings. This article by Guitar Player Magazine about the Octahedron Sessions states that the Mustang was made in 1964.
Used in Bosnian Rainbows on their first tour and their first album. Its a left handed 3/4 scale 60's Supro "super". Omar bought it because of its thick neck and because it his hand naturally falls where the lower notes were, which he was more interested in at at the time.
Omar talks about the custom ibanez that he had designed after this guitar in this video: https://youtu.be/3tEwb-IZuj8?t=33
"And then the newest one would be the Slicer, which I picked up last year, right before we started doing the band, and I got that at, I think, Noisebug in Pomona in California, they always have a lot of great pedals, and [it] sort of goes further into like, the things that I was trying to do with the tremolo pedals, you know, but it has these cool harmonic things that happen in it that just don't happen, you know, with tremolos and, again, it's real versatile, and especially the fact that you can tap tempo the whole damn thing, so you can just sort of be changing it up all the time, so it's pretty cool" – Omar Rodríguez-López on the Boss SL-20 Slicer Twin Pedal, 0:55
"I just play the simple combo amp, you know, the Rockerverb 50 now, works best for me." – Omar Rodríguez-López on the Orange Rockerverb 50.
The video description offered more detail, "Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (The Mars Volta, At The Drive In) gives an in-depth interview about his Orange Rockerverb 50 2X12 Combo, pedal-board, and his newest musical venture, Bosnian Rainbows."
Rodríguez-López is seen playing this guitar during a 2004 performance with John Frusciante and Flea.

"And then, for me, another cornerstone is the Digital Delay, the DD-5, had that since I can remember, since it came out... the most common setting for me is the effect all the way up, if you can imagine that, the 3 setting, and then I have the feedback at about 2 o'clock, and the delay time at about 10 o'clock... I could use that for almost anything, so I really love that... I started writing with a delay pedal a lot, just for the simple reason that 'Oh, it sounds like way more notes than I'm actually playing, I sound pretty good right now.'" – Omar Rodríguez-López on the Boss DD-5 Digital Delay Pedal, 1:33
At 3:20 in this rig rundown video, Omar mentions his Empress Fuzz pedal, saying, "Its really nice and its yellow!"

Omar Rodríguez-López used the Orange AD140 HTC amplifier as his primary live amp until 2011. By 2007, he employed four of these on stage, reducing to one by 2009, and later switched to a single Orange combo in 2011. In the studio, this amp was crucial for his primary overdrive sound on rhythm guitars. Notably, in 2007, all amplifier heads and cabinets were painted white. A photo on Bellazon provides visual evidence of his setup.
In November 2015, Omar Rodríguez-López added the Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer to his pedalboard for the ANTEMASQUE tour with Travis Barker. This marked the first appearance of an overdrive/distortion pedal on his setup, possibly replacing the MXR Micro Amp seen on previous boards. The addition is documented in a user-uploaded photo on Imgur.

During an interview w/ Orange Amplifiers, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez talks about his Electro-Harmonix Holy Grail Nano [@ 6:52]
"I use that 'cause as much as I'd love to use the reverb on the amp, which I was doing for a while, it's a lot to walk back and forth and turn it up and down. For a while I liked that, I liked the challenge of it, you know, but now there's something that I just need to be able to do as quickly and stay over on this side."
