Founded by luthier Dan Strain, Danocaster is a Nashville, Tennessee-based guitar workshop specializing in meticulously crafted vintage-style electric guitars modeled after classic Fender designs from the 1950s and '60s. What began around 2008 as a personal project — Strain wanted road-worthy alternatives to his prized vintage guitars that could withstand the rigors of touring — evolved into a boutique operation known for producing some of the most convincing and sonically authentic relic instruments available. Strain, a professional musician himself, personally plays and evaluates every guitar before it ships, drawing on an extensive personal collection of original vintage instruments for direct comparison during the build process.

Danocaster's lineup spans four categories: Single Cut (Telecaster-inspired), Double Cut (Stratocaster-inspired), Offset (Jazzmaster and Jaguar-influenced), and Bass models. The guitars are prized for their lightweight builds, expertly worn-in neck profiles, and tonal character that rivals genuine vintage pieces. Strain works with a small team of specialists, including custom pickup winders, and hand-rubs neck finishes to achieve a broken-in feel. Roughly 80% of sales happen through direct customer contact, allowing Strain to tailor each build to individual tonal preferences.

Danocaster guitars have found their way into the hands of respected players across genres, including Keith Urban, Julian Lage, Margaret Glaspy, Neil Schon, Rusty Anderson, and Val McCallum. The late Walter Becker of Steely Dan was also a notable Danocaster owner, having commissioned custom builds from Strain.
