Dawner Prince Electronics is a Croatian boutique effects pedal company founded in 2009 by electronic engineer Zoran Kraljevic. Based in Imotski, Croatia, the company grew out of Kraljevic's college days when he began building pedals and amps for cash-strapped bandmates while studying electronic engineering and playing drums in a ska-punk band. What started with a homemade RAT clone distortion eventually evolved into a full product line of handcrafted effects. General manager Jelena Znaor has been involved since the company's earliest days.
Dawner Prince is best known for the Boonar, a multi-head drum echo pedal inspired by the vintage Binson Echorec, which earned recognition as the #1 pedal of 2015 and has been featured on the pedalboards of David Gilmour and John Mayer. The lineup also includes the Diktator preamp/overdrive/distortion, the Viberator photocell-driven Uni-Vibe, the Starla tap-tempo analog tremolo, the Pulse revolving speaker emulator, and the Red Rox distortion. A special Boonar Tube Deluxe limited edition was released to mark the pedal's tenth anniversary.
The company's design philosophy centers on combining vintage analog warmth with modern engineering, aiming for studio-quality tone in pedals suited for both stage and recording. Each unit is assembled by hand in-house, and Kraljevic is regarded as a leading authority on the Binson Echorec circuit. Born, as the company puts it, "in the homeland of Nikola Tesla," Dawner Prince has built a reputation in the boutique pedal world for meticulous craftsmanship and faithful homage to classic effects.
