Gurus is an Italian effects pedal and amplifier manufacturer founded in 2012 by Chicco Bellini and amp designer Guglielmo Cicognani, based in Forlì, in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. Alberto Pagani joined as a partner in 2014. The brand's philosophy centers on using modern technology to reinterpret iconic studio and stage gear from the 1950s through the 1970s, with an emphasis on tube-driven circuitry and Italian craftsmanship.
Gurus' lineup includes the Echosex series of delays modeled after the legendary Binson Echorec — most notably the Echosex 2° T7E and the Echosex 3° Steve Lukather Signature Edition — as well as the 1959 Double Decker dual-channel overdrive (inspired by classic Marshall amplifiers), the SexyDrive MkII medium-gain overdrive, the Optivalve MkII tube optical compressor, the Ninja tube distortion, and the Doppoler rotary speaker emulator. The brand also produces the Brivido, a three-channel 100-watt tube amplifier. Their pedals are distributed internationally through Fox Gear Distribution and are sold in over 40 countries.
Gurus counts Steve Lukather (Toto, Ringo Starr), Joe Walsh (Eagles), and Adrian Belew (King Crimson, David Bowie) among the artists who use their gear. In 2017, Chicco Bellini partnered with Baroni-Lab to launch Foxgear, a more affordable sister line that brings Gurus and Baroni-Lab circuit designs to a wider audience.
Gurus has 15 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Delay Effects Pedals, Overdrive Effects Pedals, and Compressor Effects Pedals. Their gear is featured by 23 artists, with the strongest followings in Rock, Pop, and Electronic. Notable users include Ace, Steve Lukather, and Chris Buck.
