Event Electronics is an American studio monitor manufacturer founded in the mid-1990s by Russell Palmer, a former executive at Alesis. Palmer identified a gap in the market for affordable, high-performance nearfield monitors during the project studio boom of that era, and the company's debut product — the 20/20 — became a widely adopted reference monitor. Based in Carpinteria, California, Event built its reputation on delivering professional-grade monitoring at accessible price points, and the 20/20 line went through several revisions including the 20/20p, 20/20 BAS, and 20/20 BAS V2.

In 2006, Freedman Electronics, the Australian parent company of Røde Microphones, acquired Event Electronics. Under new ownership, the company recruited a fresh engineering team led by Marcelo Vercelli and embarked on a three-year development program that produced the Opal, a flagship two-way active monitor designed and manufactured in Australia. The Opal was praised for its exceptionally low distortion, extended mid-range, and distortion-free low end. Other notable products in the Event lineup include the TR5 and TR8 compact monitors, the ALP5, the 2030 three-way active monitor, and the Tria triamped system.

Event monitors earned a loyal following among recording engineers and home studio owners for their transparent, non-fatiguing sound. The 20/20 series in particular became a staple in project studios worldwide, while the Opal earned critical acclaim as a high-end reference monitor.
