HEDD (Heinz Electrodynamic Designs) is a Berlin-based manufacturer of studio monitors and headphones, founded in 2015 by physicist Klaus Heinz and his son, musicologist and mastering engineer Dr. Frederik Knop. Klaus Heinz — the son of Physics Nobel Prize laureate Ernst Ruska — previously founded ADAM Audio, where he spent two decades developing professional studio monitors. At the core of every HEDD product is the Air Motion Transformer (AMT), a driver technology originally invented by Oskar Heil and refined by Heinz over 30 years into a high-performance tweeter for professional and audiophile applications.

HEDD's monitor lineup spans compact nearfields to mastering-grade tower systems. The MK2 series — including the Type 05, Type 07, Type 20, and Type 30 — features built-in DSP with room correction, linear-phase crossover filters, and the company's proprietary Lineariser technology. The A-CORE series offers the same acoustic components in a fully analog signal path. The range also includes BASS 08 and BASS 12 subwoofers and custom-built Tower Mains for full-range monitoring. On the headphone side, the HEDDphone line represents the first full-range AMT headphones, with the HEDDphone TWO bringing a redesigned driver and improved transient response.

All HEDD products are designed and hand-assembled in Berlin. The company's monitors and headphones have found homes in notable facilities including Miraval Studios in Provence, and are used by producers and engineers such as DJ Jazzy Jeff and mix engineers working with artists like Florence & The Machine and Arlo Parks.
