Founded in 1977 in Skanderborg, Denmark by Wilfried Ehrenholz, Dynaudio is a loudspeaker manufacturer that designs and builds its own drivers in-house — a distinction that sets it apart from many competitors. The company operates across home hi-fi, professional studio monitoring, automotive audio, and custom installation markets. Its home speaker lines include the flagship Confidence series, the Contour and Evoke ranges, and the wireless Focus series, all built around Dynaudio's proprietary MSP (magnesium silicate polymer) woofer cones and soft-dome tweeters.
On the professional side, Dynaudio's studio monitors — marketed under the Dynaudio Pro and Dynaudio Acoustics names — are installed in over ten thousand recording studios worldwide. The Core series serves as a high-end reference platform, while the LYD series (LYD 5, LYD 7, LYD 8, LYD 48) offers nearfield monitoring at more accessible price points. The now-classic BM series, including the BM5, BM6, BM12, and BM15, became a staple in professional and project studios. Dynaudio monitors have been adopted as references by BBC Radio & Music and are found in studios such as Air Lyndhurst, NRG Studios, and Abbey Road. Producers and engineers who have used Dynaudio monitors include Trevor Horn, Mutt Lange, Steve Lipson, and Mike Hedges.
Beyond the studio, Dynaudio supplies OEM audio systems for automotive manufacturers including Volkswagen and BYD, and designed the Puccini sound system for Bugatti. The company continues to manufacture its products in Denmark.
