Meris is a Los Angeles-based effects pedal and pro audio company founded in 2013 by Terry Burton, a co-founder of Strymon, alongside DSP engineer Angelo Mazzocco and creative director Jinna Kim. All three previously worked at Line 6 and Strymon, bringing deep expertise in digital signal processing to the venture. Meris designs and manufactures all of its products in California.
The company initially focused on 500 series rack modules, including the 440 Mic Preamp and 500 series versions of its effects. In 2017, Meris launched its first effects pedals — the Mercury7 ambient reverb, Polymoon modulated delay, and Ottobit Jr. bitcrusher — which quickly earned a reputation for lush, cinematic sound design in compact formats. The lineup expanded with the Hedra three-voice pitch-shifting delay, the Enzo multi-voice synthesizer pedal, and later the LVX modular delay system and MercuryX modular reverb. Meris also collaborated with Chase Bliss Audio on the CXM 1978 studio reverb. All Meris pedals feature MIDI control, stereo inputs and outputs, full expression pedal compatibility, and switchable bypass.
Meris pedals are favored by experimental and ambient musicians, with artists such as Nick Reinhart and Yvette Young among those known to use the brand's gear. The LVX won FutureMusic's Gear of the Year award in 2022. Meris also offers prEDITOR, a desktop editor application for deep parameter control of its pedals.
Meris has 15 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Guitar Synth Pedals, Effects Processors, and Reverb Effects Pedals. Their gear is featured by 60 artists, with the strongest followings in Rock, Electronic, and Pop. Notable users include Anthony Marinelli, Zac Tiessen, and Nick Reinhart.
