Founded in 2004 in Brooklyn, New York by David Koltai and Brian Bethke, Pigtronix is a boutique effects pedal company that has built a reputation for combining vintage-inspired tones with experimental, forward-thinking designs. The two founders met at Middlebury College in Vermont and set out to create pedals unlike anything else on the market, debuting with distinctive effects such as an envelope-controlled phase shifter, a parallel-distortion box, and the Mothership — an analog monophonic synthesizer pedal with accurate pitch tracking. The company is part of Bond Audio, the parent company of D'Angelico Guitars and Supro.
Pigtronix's product line spans a wide range of effect categories including compression, fuzz, delay, reverb, overdrive, looping, and synth pedals. Standout models include the Philosopher's Tone optical compressor/sustainer, the Echolution 3 stereo multi-tap delay, the Infinity 3 stereo double looper with MIDI, the Star Eater dual-stage analog fuzz, the Cosmosis stereo ambient reverb, and the Gatekeeper high-speed noise gate. The brand's pedals have found their way onto the pedalboards of artists including Andy Summers, Adrian Belew, Jordan Rudess, Gary Holt, Chris Wolstenholme, Richard Fortus, and Mick Thomson, as well as members of Nine Inch Nails, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, and Aerosmith.
Pigtronix has 68 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Compressor Effects Pedals, Delay Effects Pedals, and Multi Effects Pedals. Their gear is featured by 158 artists, with the strongest followings in Rock, Pop, and Electronic. Notable users include Jer Coons, Juan Alderete, and Brad Whitford. Most Pigtronix products fall in the mid-tier range — professional-grade without flagship pricing.
