Modcan is a modular synthesizer manufacturer based in Toronto, Canada, founded by Bruce Duncan. The name is a contraction of "Modular Canada," reflecting Duncan's roots and the company's place as one of the earliest builders to reintroduce analog modular synthesis to the post-MIDI marketplace. Duncan, who began his career as a model-maker for architects and industrial designers and apprenticed in lute-making, started building synth modules as a hobby in the mid-1990s before turning Modcan into a full-time operation.

The company is best known for its hand-built analog modules, offered in three formats: the original A Series, which uses color-coded banana jacks; the B Series, introduced in 2005, which shares the A Series circuitry but adopts MOTM-compatible rack sizing with 1/4" jacks; and a Eurorack line. Module categories span oscillators, filters, envelopes, VCAs and mixers, LFOs, sequencers, effects, and CV processing. Modules are assembled to order using metal film resistors, water-soluble flux soldering, and ultrasonic washing.

Modcan's instruments earned a reputation among electronic musicians and producers seeking warm, character-rich analog tone, and have been associated with high-profile electronic acts including Daft Punk and Deadmau5. The brand is often discussed alongside fellow Canadian builder Intellijel as part of Toronto's modular synth scene.
