Vantage is a guitar brand launched in the late 1970s by Music Technologies Inc. (MTI), with instruments originally built at the renowned Matsumoku factory in Matsumoto, Japan. The Japanese-made era, running from roughly 1977 to 1984, produced the brand's most collectible instruments — solidbody electrics, basses, and acoustics that have come to be regarded as well-built, affordable alternatives to higher-end Japanese guitars of the period. Models from this run, including the Avenger series and the V-100, sit alongside the Matsumoku-built Aria Pro II and Westone instruments in the Japanese vintage market.

After Matsumoku closed in 1987, Samick acquired the Vantage trademark and continued production in South Korea and later Indonesia. Vantage's Korean-era catalog expanded into a wide range of Strat- and Les Paul-influenced solidbodies, basses, and dreadnought acoustics aimed at the entry- and mid-level market. The brand has remained best known among collectors for the early Matsumoku-era guitars rather than later overseas production.
