While Samick produces instruments under its own name, the company is best known in the guitar world as a massive OEM builder. It has manufactured guitars sold under brands such as Hondo (through its joint venture with IMC), Squier, Epiphone, Washburn, Hohner, and Silvertone. Its own-brand electric and acoustic guitar lines have included entry-level and mid-tier instruments built in Korea and, later, Indonesia.

In 2002 the company was acquired by Jong-Sup Kim, and it relaunched its guitar line in partnership with American designer Greg Bennett, releasing the Greg Bennett Design by Samick series of acoustic and electric guitars. Beyond guitars, Samick's catalog spans upright and grand pianos — including the Knabe, Seiler, and Pramberger piano brands under its corporate umbrella — as well as violins, basses, and other stringed instruments.
