Reverbs are used to thicken a sound by increasing the decay time of your signal. This can range from sound waves bouncing off the walls of a specific room to lush ambient trails.
Reverb pedals come in a variety of types. The most common reverb pedals usually fall into one of the following categories;
- Spring
- Hall
- Chamber (Similar to hall, but with a shorter decay)
- Room
- Plate
Most reverb pedals are digital and create an emulation of specific analog effects. Many of the more popular digital reverbs can produce several different types of reverb in one pedal through featuring different modes.
There are specialty analog reverbs as well. Many of these involve a larger format tank and are usually spring type reverbs.
