The best mfx I own
I have a few MFX's but this is the one I will concentrate on. It’s amp sims are even better than my zoom and boss gt1s. My two bucket list anmos were a fender deluxe annd an Roland jc120. The sims anre so good, I no longer desire them. I have the sounds I wanted. Its effects are pretty great. To nitpick, the bd1 doesn’t have the response of the pedal, but there’s the send and return in the back. So I can add my blues driver. The ds 1 is tremendous. The reverbs are fantastic. I like having things like the Tera echo and ring modulator.
Setup is pretty easy, and even the more complex stuff makes sense once you get your head around it.
As a bassist I love its bass effects, and its compatibility with acoustics is just superb.
I now take this instead of an amp and pedalboard. I might even sell my pedals.
Love the aesthetics
It looks great. A real vintage feel.
It sounds spectacularly great. From a subtle tinge to washing out, it’s a great phaser.
Like its bass equivalent, not as intuitive as it might be
But excellent sounds, and, once you get the hang of it, great programming. You need to spend time with the manual, but it is a very powerful tool once you understand it.
Excellent sounds
Could be more intuitive, but sturdy and the stock sounds are great. Compressors particularly excellent.
Excellent entry level 5 string
Actually it’s more than entry level. I’ve gigged and recorded with this. It plays beautifully and the active pickups work nicely.
An excellent bass.
I’ve had mine since 1992. Great bass. Single file jazz and with the push pull switches making them hum buckers it’s an incredibly versatile bass. Criminally undervalued and despite it being a 1985 model. It has an extremely playable neck, much like a jazz neck. Can do a P facsimile, and slaps like a funk machine.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
Put that bridge pickup on, and Marcus Miller your way into the wee hours. Or humbucker neck for jamerson.
Brilliant guitar.
Simple yet complex. Can rock, jazz or blues. Has a bigsby. One volume knob, yet versatile. Highly playable.
Excellent sounds.
It’s a bit flimsy and seems harder to program than it should be. Presets are great though, so I’ll sit with manual at some point and try and crack the code.
An excellent bass
Great neck, great pickups. Plays extremely well. Versatile. Looks fantastic with the natural finish and maple fingerboard. The neck is bound which looks great.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
Tone full. Bridge pickup full. Neck pickup about 75%
Excellent.
Sounds great. Light. Banjo sounds like a banjo. Guitar sounds like a guitar. Microphone works beautifully.
An exceptional,instrument
Very cheap, yet exceptionally well made. As good as the Epiphone. Came ready straight out of the box.
Excellent.
Great feel. Great sound. Great playability. I probably don’t need another strat. This is so good.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
All of them. I am enjoying the very strat 2 and four positions. And the middle pickup.
Best clean boost.
I like the EHX LPB a great deal. But this is a bit cleaner and less colouring, giving a nice, well, boost, to your tone. It works your amplifier perfectly, and can be used to push a slightly driven amp into a 'creamy' saturation. I like it as a clean boost - kick it on for a solo without losing tone, or adding unwanted gain. A very versatile and useful pedal
Preferred Settings + Usage:
Hard to know - the one knob about 11...
An excellent nylon string guitar for those used to electrics
It has a thin line body, and is joined at the 14 fret. Most nylon strings have large bodies and are joined at the 12th fret. It has 21 frets, rather than 19. It has a tapered neck. If you play primarily electric, or like thin bodies, this is an excellent guitar with exceptional value for money. It sounds great plugged in, or unplugged. Great for jazz, pop, or classical or flamenco music. Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed played nylon thin lines, so there's no reason for you not to.
It may even become my main acoustic...
excellent bang for the buck
Bought mine in Guitar Centre on 4th Avenue, New York - a nice souvenir. May need a set up if you buy one, but a lovely tone, playable neck and sturdy build. Recommended.
Cool. Great player. Great pickups.
Sure, stairway and hotel California. But it’s an SG. So Santana and AC DC. And it’s a 12 string. So the byrds and Tom petty.
Brilliant.
Great fuzz
Wild snd crazy, versatile, tough. Brilliantly creamy, or it can sound like the batteries are flat. I’m not a huge fuzz user, but between this and my fuzz face, I won’t need any more. Recommended.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
Sustain, full. Volume at unity. Tone at 10 o’clock.
Nice overdrive.
Not too wild. Just crunchy enough. I’ve never heard a real Dumble , but it’s a nice clean boost too. Good price.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
Gain at 1 o’clock, tone at 11 o’clock , volume at unity.
Nice overdrive.
Not too wild. Just crunchy enough. I’ve never heard a real fumble, but it’s a nice clean boost too. Good price.
