Basic, good DAW

Does everything I want it to, haven't used any other DAW much nor plan to. Perfect for my applications.

Review for sounds alone!

I run samples of this from drums into Groove Agent on Cubase pretty much exclusively. It's an Industrial powerhouse! Sounds like Ministry - me like!

Turns everything to gold

If you use this plugin, your hair will grow back, you will grow an extra foot, and your annual salary will double. This plugin saved my failing marriage, paid for my house, and walks my dogs.

In all seriousness though this plugin is awesome. Put it on anything, crank it up, watch your pretty little Juno preset become a beastly roar from below. Industrial heaven.

An electronic music must have

This was the missing piece from my arsenal of free VSTs, I run the Virus C firmware and the presets are ace.

Feels like bank robbery

Free and sounds great, FM section gets nasty. That's all you need to know.

Perfect recreation

If you can tell by my name, the Emulator II and E-MU line of sampling keyboards are absolutely my favorite sounding keyboards in the world. I've only used the trial, but I can tell that this plugin instantly sounded exact just going through presets and the interface is great as well. When I have the means, I will absolutely be buying this.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

It's best to start with a preset and then use custom layered samples to get the DM sound.

Underrated tool for creating noise and sound effects.

The Radio in combination with some effects or synth processing can be surprisingly musical. Just sweeping through frequencies can be a fun and surprising goldmine of random sounds and crackles that can be sampled or further manipulated to create unique textures.

No frills solid analog machine.

Is it exactly like a 606? I dunno, I don't have one and analog gear of that age is pretty much doomed to sound different from one another, even off the same assembly line. A lot of people would go for the Behringer over this but this is far more easy to use. It is plastic, but it feels like high quality plastic and is assembled very well. Just don't beat the thing to death. Only complaint is that I wish there was a proper analog trig out on it although I think the rimshot out may be capable of this function if adjusted right. Overall very solid and nice to use analog drum machine.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

To get a good sound out of really any of these analog drum machines, you must run the snare through a big gated reverb with the other drums running through a more moderate reverb. Compression and saturation also can help with the cleanliness.

This thing is terrible, which is why it's good.

I was going to sell this but I blew the speakers on it..... Noisy hiss but can be fixed by gainstaging properly. The piano sounds are surprisingly ok and it's what I've learned keys on so I can't hate it too much.

Ace for the money

Great for any JD/NO/DM stuff. Tone cuts through and is quite loud for a little thing. I don't love that it has a prop 65 warning on it but hopefully not for the mouthpiece.

b3k mid

Used by everyone and as such makes very generic metal bass sounds of the 2000s.

emuemulator2

sucks

wah is what I said when I plugged it in and realized I wasted my money.

emuemulator2

Industrial classic

Basically a condensed 2600. Some people many not like the mini keys but it personally doesn't bother me. Can get anything from basic open saws to bleep blorps to Alien dial up it's all there. My gripe is that the oscillators bleed sound no matter how you set the thing and respond to pitch on the keys while everything is completely off.

Good for it's time but completely obsolete in 2024

Programming with this thing is about as fun as getting an ingrown toenail removed. Sound quality is decent, better than most VSTs, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to get the playback speed to stay the same across the keyboard. It's no surprise to me that E-MU went out of business once computer storage got better than floppy disks.

Edit - So I guess I'm just dumb and didn't understand how sampling chromatically works. Kinda wish I still had this as modern hardware samplers basically don't exist and the floppy can be changed for a zip or USB. Also I didn't realize I could load multiple banks at once.

Great for basslines and leads, limited for pads. Sequencer mediocre.

Lets start with the positive. The unit is light yet feels sturdy and well made. The "Wheels" respond nice and the interface is easy to use. Solid to control basses/leads and even pads in a pinch. As far as the sequencer..... its ok. I imagine if you use the sync input to a drum machine/metronome/whatever people use to keep their sequences in time then it would be better. Arpeggiator also also suffers this issue obviously.

One trick pony

Lets start by saying that if you are looking for Taurus pedal sounds and only Taurus pedal sounds then this is absolutely what you should get. It sounds dead on. Synth enthusiasts that want a versatile bass machine look elsewhere. You only get one waveform with limited envelope control, no LFO, and no white noise generator. To add insult to injury the envelope will not retrigger unless you play very staccato. Meaningless to anyone who wants to play bass pedals, but absolutely detrimental to people trying to use it for cohesive basslines.

Great 115

I'm a pretty scrawny guy so me carrying a 410 is out of the picture. Fortunately for me I like the sound of 15 inch speakers better anyway. This cab is very smooth sounding and has a great amount of low end. Paired with my Ampeg micro VR I get a fantastic all-around tone.

emuemulator2

An amazing head that really captures that "Ampeg tone"

For context I was playing through a fender rumble 25 before this. Paired with my Ashdown 115 I get the perfect mix of vintage growl and hi-fi sparkle. I'm running it at 8 ohms so it's not the loudest thing in the world but I don't see why it couldn't keep up with a drummer or at shows.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Everything 12 a clock or a treble boost for Geddy.

Favorite bass I've ever owned.

Praying this thing doesn't have any issues in the future as right now it is easily the best bass I've ever owned. The sound is classic thumbprint Fender J and can be used for quite literally any style of play and any genre of music. I almost don't even want to play my other basses as I just feel so at home with this one.

emuemulator2

Not the best out there but you can't beat it for the used price.

I wanted a delay for my bass but wasn't gonna spend 150 bucks for something I'd seldom use. Was able to get one of these for 40 bucks and it is good enough for me.
