Cyclone Analogic TT-303, TT-78 & TT-606

soundonsound.com

The Cyclone Analogic TT-606 Drum Drone is a hit among those nostalgic for Roland's classic drum machines. Praised for its authentic sound, this modern take on the TR-606 offers more control, user kits, and individual outputs, enhancing its versatility. While it shines with its sweet hi-hats and snappy snare, the need for an external power source and its slightly fiddly controls may deter some. Nonetheless, its MIDI capabilities and live performance features make it a compelling choice for electronic musicians seeking retro vibes with modern functionality.

Cyclone Analogic TT-606 review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

Cyclone Analogic's Drum Drone TT-606 offers an excellent balance of vintage charm and modern flexibility. While it doesn't perfectly replicate the sound of Roland's original 606, it comes impressively close, adding new sounds to the classic palette. The robust MIDI implementation, lack of USB, and parameter automation via tempo-synced LFOs enhance its flexibility. Users can enjoy a wide range of tones and programming capabilities that surpass the original's limitations. However, purists might note some differences in sound authenticity. Overall, the TT-606 is a solid choice for those seeking a modern twist on a classic drum machine.

No frills solid analog machine.

Is it exactly like a 606? I dunno, I don't have one and analog gear of that age is pretty much doomed to sound different from one another, even off the same assembly line. A lot of people would go for the Behringer over this but this is far more easy to use. It is plastic, but it feels like high quality plastic and is assembled very well. Just don't beat the thing to death. Only complaint is that I wish there was a proper analog trig out on it although I think the rimshot out may be capable of this function if adjusted right. Overall very solid and nice to use analog drum machine.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

To get a good sound out of really any of these analog drum machines, you must run the snare through a big gated reverb with the other drums running through a more moderate reverb. Compression and saturation also can help with the cleanliness.
