70's psychedelic sounds.
I bought one for my bass guitar after hearing "Stranglehold" by Ted Nugent as the original recording of the bass had this pedal on it. Sounds just like that original recording with a PJ bass with roundwounds and low action. Outside of that, think Thin Lizzy, early Pink Floyd, or the Police.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
10 O'clock for stranglehold sound.

Great value
I sold my old CE-5 before getting this, and while I would prefer the CE-5 as it's essentially the same pedal with an added high filter option. I'll settle for this as it sounds identical. (and is cheaper). It absolutely rocks on fretless bass.
Not the best sounding bass chorus out there, but reliable and affordable.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
Level and depth = Max Rate and Low filter = 10:30

Solid and simple pedalboard
Enough size for the essentials, and has extra for all your favorite toys.

Iconic and simple to use delay thanks to tap tempo.
I use this on bass for more experimental sounds, does the classic digital delay thing of course, but I really dig that hold loop mode. I can use it to solo over drones or I can sustain a note with it and create almost divebomb and dimebag squeal effects with it by speeding up delay time whilst holding it down.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
No real favorite setting, varies constantly

It's a wah pedal
Simple wah, not bad. Basically just a more durable and more convenient Crybaby.

A little too smooth for me
Life on these strings is alright, they almost feel like flats. I sweat a lot so this isn't great for me.

Good starter amp.
Simple to use and works great with any medium output bass, if you use an active with high output. Get something else.
Edit: The power switch fell off recently after 2 years of heavy use, you still get your $100 worth but come on.

Solid Fuzz sound.
Good fuzz, just a bit thin sounding and a little less attack, mids, and bottom than I desire.

Bad Flats
Simple as that, really high tension even for flats, rough wrap for flats. They feel like rubberbands. They are also pretty bright for flats. Good durability, bad everything else.

I use it on bass
Gets any chorus sound you want. A real swiss army knife despite only having 2 knobs and a selector switch. Ce-2 mode is classic chorus that sounds like Andy Rourke, Sting, and many other chorus bass players. Whilst Ce-1 mode is extra swirly and the only chorus I've found that sounds like Duff Mckagan's live chorus sound from 1992 Tokyo. I don't get a lot of use out of the last one as I don't like very high rate sounds, but it sounds a lot like a leslie speaker.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
CE-2 Mode: Rate 12 o 'lock Depth 1 O'clock CE-1 Chorus mode: Rate: 10:30, Depth: 3 O'clock CE-1 Vibrato: Rate: 9 O'clock, Depth: 1 O'clock.

Good versatile octave pedal for those that don't do the octave thing full time.
This is one nifty pedal. It's got 2 different octave circuits. To my ears the growl mode sounds more like a synthy oc-2 type thing while the girth mode is like a more natural bass sound. Tracks pretty good. High quality as you'd expect from MXR.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
I use their "Playhouse"/Pino Palladino setting from the online manual. Sounds great.

Favorite strings.
Only steel strings I've found that can handle my hyperhidrosis. Everything else dies in a few weeks.

Solid pick
I use these for bass, no complaints other than my own poor picking technique and that they slide off my thumbs a bit. YMMV

So remarkably meh.
Just a big muff in a black enclosure.... that's all I have to say. Noise gate is cool

Good basic keyboard to learn on.
Simple keyboard, fine for my needs and solid. Not very fit for performance though.

Boss Reliability, but not the best in terms of sound.
This compressor definitely works, but subtle compression is out of the picture. Best setting is probably attack and level set to fully clockwise and sustain at minimum. Fine for casual use but get a better one if you're gonna record.
Bonus: it's go so much compression that you can get the Tony levin sledgehammer sound if you put attack at 0 and sustain at max. So it's fun for overcompressed, synthy stuff where you want some of the life taken out of your natural tone.

Poor design flaws on a bass with potential.
The fact the tuners are literally all designed with the same fault is unacceptable. They wear themselves down after 1 or 2 restrings and they are very expensive to replace. This one's going back.

Actually pretty good now that I've worked on it
After a lot of neglect, I have now turned this thing into a pretty decent bass. Adjusted truss rod, intonation, a lil bit of fretboard rehydration, and sweat wiped off of neck, then restrung with Roto 66s. Now it's actually really good, I plan to eventually add better pickups and maybe a hi-mass bridge. But the playability is great now. Pots are a little scratchy but I'm actually really impressed with the tone. I'm in the market for a Fender P bass but that can honestly wait a little while thanks to this providing a solid P bass sound.

Good picks for a more thick drive-y sound.
Quite nice for just about any musical application, no bullsh!t just pure feel and tone
