A lot of guitar for the money, with one exception
I bought this second hand at a very good price, in close to mint condition. It had a typical flamenco setup, with very low action and a big, transparent golpeador. But the guitar itself had great potential as a classical guitar, with a body depth on par with many classical guitars. So I de-flamencoed it. First step was making a new bone bridge saddle, raising the action to 3 mm on the treble side and slightly less than 4 mm on the bass side. This made the guitar buzz-free, but still very easy to play. Then I removed the golpeador. It took a while to get rid of all the glue, but since the finish is polyurethane, I could use potent thinners. No trace of the plastic monstrosity now.
Strung with Aquila Alhambra, this is a beautiful sounding guitar. Very rich treble, and great bass projection. Quite penetrating when I dig in, but with great dynamic range. First I tried d'Addario Pro Arté strings, but they sounded very dull on this guitar, especially the trebles. The Aquilas really made this guitar come alive.
But there is a weak point, and that is the plastic peg heads. A bad rattle in one of them, and cracks in two of the others. I replaced them with similar looking heads of better quality, and now everything is stable and nice. It's a shame Alhambra use low quality plastic for this part, but that is my only complaint.
Flamenco still sounds great on this one, and I could always put in the old bridge if I want low action and rattling strings. But that golpeador is never touching this fine spruce top again.

” I love the Alhambra line of classical guitars! The Flamenco models 7fp and 10fp are fantastic recording guitars!
Traditional spanish sound and construction, superb playability and intonation, impeccable balance. The thinline classical acoustic electrics serve me perfectly in live settings at rock concert volumes, they still provide an excellent sound with minimal feedback issues. Blending in mic and pickup at lower volumes has produced a lovely tone, with audience members and musicians alike loving the sound, unaware that the guitar was amplified at all!
At the upper end, the Luthier and Professional models are true concert guitars. I have owned Fleta, Rodriguez, Ramirez, Rubio guitars. The Alhambra guitars stand side by side with these historic guitars. The Alhambra concert guitars are powerful, with fantastic projection and a fat, clear sound, musical, expressive and dynamic – a great performing guitar at a fraction of the price!”
