Description
The DX207G Low G Whistle by Dixon
The Dixon DX207G is a tun-able Low G (sometimes called “alto G”) whistle made by Tony Dixon in England.
It’s part of Dixon’s aluminum-bodied whistle/flute range, designed to offer a rich, resonant tone with the benefit of being tuneable thanks to a removable/tunable headjoint.
The DX207 models often come as “Alto Duo” instruments, meaning they include both a whistle head and a flute head for versatility, but the focus here is on the whistle configuration.
This whistle is ideal for players looking for a deeper, mellow Irish/Celtic low whistle sound that’s still responsive and fairly easy to play.
The aluminum body gives a slightly brighter and more projected tone than all-plastic whistles, while the tuneable head allows you to adjust pitch to match other instruments or groups.
Specs:
• Model: Dixon DX207G Low G Whistle (tuneable) part of the DX207 series.
• Key / Pitch: Low G (Alto G) deeper, richer tone compared to high D whistles.
• Tuneability: Tuneable headjoint head can be adjusted to fine-tune pitch with other instruments.
• Body Material: Aluminium alloy body stiffer material gives a brighter, more projecting tone.
• Headjoint Material: Plastic/polymer tuneable head lighter and practical for tuning.
• Hybrid Construction: Metal body + plastic head combines durability with tuneability.
• Playing Range: Typical more than two octaves (standard for low whistles).
• Design: Whistle/Flute duo setup for this series usually includes both articulated heads (but focus here is on the whistle).
• Origin: Made in England by Tony Dixon Music.
• Typical Feel: Moderate air requirement and moderate finger reach designed to balance playability with tone quality (from similar Dixon low models).
