My new song is ready for Vocals, YOU NEED TO HEAR THIS
I like it!
The drums are a bit to made up digitally for my taste. The could be a bit smoother in the back. I don't want to sound harsh but they sound a bit like these drum basics some keyboards have. Just not that special, a bit too mechanic and a too present. The rest is good. I don't know how to explain this the right way. I love the guitars on the verses. There's some cool 90's indie vibe to it. Like it. Not sure how vocals will work on this one since the chorus/b-part is kind of a break to the laid back atmosphere of the verses. Kinda reminds a bit of the Pumpinks back when they were good. Not sure if this was helpful or at least articulated well. I'm not used to give song feedback in English.

Do you know Rhiannon Giddens? You might like her. Where I grew up no one of my friends listened to this kind of music and it's not played anywhere, so it was a lot harder to get tired of some of the stuff. I'm not that focussed on Carter Family-like songs as you might think (okay, I nearly like every Cash song β but they all sound similar) . I got in touch with that kind of music through Ryan Adams' early work. I stick to newer stuff normally. I admire the Milk Carton Kids.
Anyways. Don't let as fill this thread on our own. I'm exited for your cover and the other stuff that will be posted in here.

Maybe something which was originally sung by a woman. So you could add that kind of different feel you wanted. Wildwood Flower? Diamonds and Rust (more folk than country)?

I start off with a timeless bedroom performance of John Hartfords "In Tall Buildings". I tried an ukulele version, sung like it's a melodramatic lullaby sung to my fictional child.

Hey everybody,
since probably most of us are musicians, I thought it would be nice if we had a place to share the songs we've recently been covering. No matter what genre, no matter how professional. Post your stuff!

I like his songs pretty much. But most of them when they're sung by other artists.

oh yeah, sorry, the picture's not good enough to ID whether that's an oddball gibby or epi V model, a stock one refined or maybe something like a Hamer Vector.... or a luthier one off clone. I wouldn't touch this one. He's probably just posing with it for a laugh anyway.
It's hard to differentiate between what he means serious and what's a joke nowadays.
We've got a J-45, a Casino aaaaaaand?

It really took me a while to realize you're not talking about Ryan Adams.

This Flying V doesn't look regular. Is anybody familiar with these?

You could try to contact him via Facebook and ask him about his gear. This works out sometimes.

Any guesses what that electric and the archtop could be?

And it is about time that we get a banjo guy around here. I can tell these things apart.

I would love to hear what you guys think of the current political situation. 2017 could be an important year with Trump building walls and talking smack, UK leaving the EU and the upcoming votes in France and Germany.

the gear that got away -- list your lost items here
A mediocre 90's Ibanez from Asia. I don't remember the exact model. I absolutely loved it. I remember playing almost every I song I knew, when I got it (at the age of thirteen), because it sounded so different and so much better than the classical guitar I had before. I was so in love with the sound of the steel strings. It felt like I became a much better player just by switching the guitar. Everything was so clear and brilliant out of the sudden. I sold it to a friend, who wanted to start playing when I got a Yamaha a few years later. He never did I guess. Last time I saw it, the guitar was laying in a bathtub at a party - with no strings on it. It looked pretty beaten. I regret that it got treaded like this. I was kid back then with no sense of nostalgia.
I know it probably only sounded that good in my memories. I guess it is more about that special feeling when I first touched it.

Complaints, Concerns, Errors, Suggestions, and Ideas!
I think it would be even better if our own boards would work like those of the pros. Sorted by categories etc.

wow, I can't remember!
Me neither. When I look at my first submissions I guess I was doing some research on Loar guitars when I found it. I joined almost the same second I realized what this site was about! And now I'm so in love with the board and all of you.

At 7:16min Adams picks up a Gibson acoustic. Is that a L-00 or a L-1?
9yover 9 years ago
You mean that it's custom in a way that it's not even built by Fender? Nearly impossible to find a photo of that damn headstock. One ugly looking guitar.

That thing on the pole. What is that? I can't figure out that red and white guitar as well. Looks like an Airline or something.

Yep yep, I know what you mean. If they only were more affordable.
9yover 9 years ago
Yeah, but that doesn't seem to mean much to Gibson. Even the "J" in J-45 stands for jumbo. The guitar I was looking for is a J-185.
9yover 9 years ago
Thanks!
I can't really figure out his acoustic either. Looks like a Gibson S/SJ-200 maybe a J-100, but the bridge looks unfamiliar to me.

Seems like it's getting a bit quite in here. Can somebody help me be exact. Fender Princeton Reverb Amp, right?

It's up on Ebay. The guy selling it says the frets are good and that it had no cracks. These guitars are pretty rare around here. 300β¬ is still a lot to me.
