Delay and reverb suggestions for noise pop/shoegaze/goth rock sort of sounds.
Looking for suggestions on a few reverb and delays to get the aforementioned guitar sounds from these genres. I honestly don't really know what sort of pedals I'm looking for, so just want some ideas on a few to try next time I'm at the music shop. The sound I'm mainly going for is that of the album ''So long, Scarecrow'' by Scarling. I'll be forever greatful for suggestions and tips I receive. I've never used delays or reverbs really if I'm being honest. Just distortions and chorus

Lowest tuning for various scale lengths
Kurt Cobain played in drop C# on his Mustangs and Jaguars which are 24'' scale and used 52-11s or something like that on them for tuning stability. I played in E standard mostly with my Les Paul and use 52-10 strings as prefer the feel but I can down tune to drop B and it sounds fine. I rarely go lower the Eb though. I don't think there is a limit on how low any scale length can go. Pickups, strings and setup will have the biggest impact on how good/bad a down tuned guitar will sound and feel. Scale length only really affects the brightness and tension of the strings more than anything on a guitar (in my opinion)
So what I was trying to say is, there is no limit

Opinions on the ''Rockboard'' Pedalboards by Warwick?
Are these a decent option? I like how they are modular with the power supplies etc. Is it worth getting one?

Are we talking about pinch harmonics? Cobalt or other high output strings are probably going to be best but string gauge is probably irrelevant. The main thing will be quality of materials and manufacturing techniques which will affect harmonic content of the strings themselves and also pickups will affect how well the harmonics of the strings are picked up and reproduced by the amp but for pinch harmonics cobalt will probably make them scream better as more output but the biggest thing will be technique and skill when it comes to pinch harmonics.

Is the Yamaha RGX420DZ an alright guitar?
£300 they are going for? Think I best go for it then. I've sent him a message to see if it's available still as was only listed today. I'm gunna take a look at some videos of them and get some ideas if what I would like to do to it! It's is further away than I initially thought but it's a good excuse to get out of the house for an hour or two!

Is the Yamaha RGX420DZ an alright guitar?
That's what I'm thinking, stick a real Floyd rose on it and a SD distortion mayhem set in too if it plays well. My main concern is how playable they were when they were new. Don't wanna buy something I'm never gunna get to play well. I'm used to modding guitars and working on them myself (none of my guitars are standard) it's about a 15 mile drive, 30 Mike round trip so £10 or so in fuel depending on how much my Lexus wants to drink on that given day 😂 think I'll drop them a message and see if I can get it abit cheaper if I throw in my tube screamer clone as I don't really like it much, don't get on with it as well as I did the black Star boost it replaced

Is the Yamaha RGX420DZ an alright guitar?
An Yamaha RGX420DZ has popped up locally for £50. It has a Floyd Rose trem, unsure if it's a licensed one or a really cheap Chinese one. Just wondering whether these were decent guitars at all as I'm very tempted, does need a good clean and strings and a set up but I like the look of it and wondering if I'm gunna get on with it in terms of playability

Me too. They seem like a decent company. Can't wait to try a few out in 6 weeks time now. Lockdown sucks in that sense but it is what it is.
Thank you for your advise too and about the tone woods and that obviously besides strings you can't do a great deal to make an acoustic sound better

What Kind Of Strings Does Everybody Use?
I use Dunlop Heavy Core 12-54 in E standard and Eb on my Epi Les Paul. On my Squier Mustang I use Ernie Ball 52-10 Titanium reinforced coated strings in E standard and Eb. Can't remember the exact name but they've been on for almost a month now and still sound and feel new but I'm not too keen on them. Too bright sounding for my liking. On everything else I use Daddario 11-52 and again in E standard and Eb

I see. Still ashame none the less. I think I'm learning towards the Alverez Artist Elite ADE90CAER. It's got a solid AA Stika Spruce top with Ebony back and sides, a Mahogany neck and a real bone nut and saddle. It's also contoured on the corner so it's more comfortable on your arm. It seems to fit in with the tone I'm expecting and wanting from an acoustic. I've found one on offer for £540 instead of £700. I've had a look for the Epiphone model you suggested too but the only one I found needed a refret and I'm not willing to pay for the cost of that if I'm honest

The fee models by Framus I've looked at do seem to sound decent. I definitely prefer the tone of the Takamine over the Ibanez after watching a few more clips of them both. I think ultimately I've decided I'm going to spend a bit more and get something on a good deal say on offer for £500 instead of £850 as there does seem to be a few decent deals like that on some acoustics I've looked at

I'll keep that in mind. From mid April our retail should be open as usual again so I'm going to try a few out before I buy at a few different stores. £250 is the minimum I'm going to spend and around £400 max maybe stretch to £500 depends on if I have to buying anything in the mean time that's more important.
It's a shame to hear that Ibanez are let down by poor QC on the lower value instruments as all the models I've owned previously have been great guitars.
I'll be sure to look out for seagull too and to keep an eye out for a good used acoustic. Ideally I'm wanting a solid top as they typically have a better tone than laminated

I'm going to be buying a acoustic in the £250-£400 range in April when retail here opens up again and would like some suggestions and advice. Brand isn't really important to me but two guitars have stood out to me and that is the Ibanez AW54CE and the Takamine GD11MCENS. Also I've seen a Framus acoustic that I like the sound of in clips but I've never heard of Framus until recently and am unsure what the quality is like

I use 12-54 on my strat in standard tuning with 4 springs and tighten the hook up until it "floats". My main issue with heavy strings is getting the right amount of relief rather than setting up the tremolo though

Red knob fender "the twin" any good?
I suppose to me "good" is how the cleans stack up to the older twin reverbs and the later ones. Reverb doesn't bother me as i don't really like reverb.
I couldn't care less about drive channels on most amps as I prefer pedals for distortion or I like to boost the drive channel at low gain as that works better for me.
The price I'm looking at is around £250 but hoping to be able to get a bit knocked off with any luck. To me £250 sounds pretty cheap for a 100w fender tube amp from the twin reverb family but I don't overly know much about them, other than there very heavy and are expensive to retube.
I'll have to see how much a showman head goes for. The bassbreaker seems like a decent combo/head too and they come up fairly cheap. I'm also looking at a few laney amps, I used to own a VC30 but it died. I did like that though but don't really want to buy another. I've also looked at a few blackstar amps but not sure if I want one or not
The only rack head I can think of is the laney iron heart studio but it doesn't have red knobs

Red knob fender "the twin" any good?
Is the red knob fender twin amp from 1987-1994 any good? How does it compare to earlier and later twin reverbs?

Anyone have experience with Harley Benton 212 cabs?
That's debatable. I think Gibson have just lagged behind in recent years. Whilst Epiphone have improved hugely, Gibson QC has got sketchy. Saying that though, the new owners seem like they should see a good improvement on the QC on Gibson's

Anyone have experience with Harley Benton 212 cabs?
So, I’ve just spotted one for sale locally to me for next to nothing. Obviously I’ve arranged to pick it up. Can’t wait to try it later on today.
I’ve bought most of my guitars past and present without ever playing them. Only guitar I regretted buying was a Gibson Les Paul as it’s just didn’t compare to my Epiphone Les Paul. I felt robbed 🤣

Anyone have experience with Harley Benton 212 cabs?
Even without lockdown I wouldn't realistically be able to try a Harley Benton cab, annoyingly as they're a Thomann own brand in Germany.
They do sound great though from what I've heard on YouTube. There's one going cheap near me so I think I'm just going to buy it as it really is a steal. I've listened to a few other cans in the same price range but the V30s is what really makes me want it. I just hate taking a gamble on stuff

Anyone have experience with Harley Benton 212 cabs?
Anyone own or used one? How do they sound compared to a more upmarket or brand name cab? Getting a tube head next month but obviously need a cab for it too. From what I've read online the Harley Benton stuff by Thomann does seem solid for the price.
Any recommendations on other lower cost cabs to look at? Due to the UK covid-19 rules I'm unable to try anything before I buy and I can't see that changing at all for quite some time

Are "high gain" 12ax7 preamp tubes worth it?
As the title suggests, are they worth it and do they have noticeable difference over "standard gain" 12ax7/ecc83 tubes?
