Love at first sight

Some say the PRS are have a sound between the Les Paul and the Stratocaster. The three-way pickup selector and the push/pull coil tap tone control really turn possible a great range of tones. Even if guitar can range between the two classics, it excels at its own tone. Very confortable on the first impression, the fretboard takes some minutes to get used to. The beauty is beyond believe. The quillted maple top will leave you in awe.

Nice VOX AC30 bright tones

This Vox AC30 sim has a lot of versatility, even if always chasing the Vox tone. The building is very good, seems to be a very durable little metal box. I found it great on the clean side, never getting too much over the crunch sound. Don't expect a raging overdrive, but expect a very good tamed one. The controls are sensible, so small changes have big consequences in the guitar sound.

its weird that it has a mid control, that's just un-top-boost

lucianorg

Yeah. For the mid control I noticed it's best at 12 or 13 o'clock. Bellow 12 gives you a more round sound though.

Cheap bass

Not very good sound, not very good making. Nevertheless, the electronics and pickup configuration are interesting, each pickup having a dedicated volume knob. With better pups and a visit to the luthier it's possible to make it an acceptable bass.

Good sounds, lacks functions

Good for some uses, it's now an old keyboard, with limited uses. Good for students though.

Great acoustic guitar

This acoustic guitar have strong lows and bright highs plugged and unplugged. For a steel guitar it has superior playability. Comes with a preamp and tuner.

My first instrument

Made by a brazilian company with over a hundred years of experience. This nylon classical guitar is perfect for the begginer. Comfortable on the learning fingers, this is a guitar that could be kept for life. Mine have 15 years now, and it's like new. Doesn't have electric parts.

great review, I started on a student classical too and I still have it 25 years later and hope to give it to my son when he's older

lucianorg

If my house was burning down, this guitar is the first thing I would save. I know there are better classical guitars out there, but for me this is the one.

No messing around.

Boss DD-2 clone. The three modes sound good. The simple controls make it easy to get your goal. I found all settings useful. The Tape Mode is my personal favorite, for a vintage vibe.

2013 Fender Stratocaster American Special

Love at first sight. Really soft and fun to play.

Great for home practice

A good solid state amp, with a fender characteristic tone. For a 10w, it's louder than I though it would be. The overdrive is nice and warm.

so your name is Lucian? I named my son Lucian, small world!

lucianorg

Luciano, the portuguese version of the name :)

As an American I was torn between the Latin spelling and the French spelling (Lucian versus Lcien), but being a total romao-phile went with the latin/anglicized version. Luciano, great name. I vaguely named my boy after Lucius Corelius Sulla, Luciano Pavarotti and Lucian Freud... covering my respect for the boldest of ancient rome's politicians, classical music and modern art. And a little nod to Lucian's grandfather Sigmund buried in there too.

A lot of tones

Sansamp GT-2 clone. Versatility is the key. A lot of tones possible, most of them great. It's hard to get a clean sound with the british or california (It lacks a bit of headroom). It's very possible to get a great tone, even if not a great copy of the original inspiration source. Good copy, great for the price.

lucianorg

Doesn't improve the tone, but doesn't ruin it.

Solid state amp, loud enough for band practice. The amp have a somewhat flat response, not coloring the sound a lot. The distortion is not very good.

Kramer Striker FR-422SD

Great tone. With two dual-rail (neck, middle), a quad-rail (bridge, quad-to-dual coil split mode), there's a great range of tones possible, and a strong output signal. Perfect for metal, it's surprisingly versatile, altough it can be too much sometimes.

80s Kramers? made in the USA?

lucianorg

It's a 00's, made by Musicyo/Korea, by Gibson's Kramer specifications. It was my first guitar. At the time I didn't know anything about guitars. I believe this guitar is from the budget category of Kramer, even though It wasn't by any means a cheap guitar when I bought it. I still stand by it. A very lucky buy. More than a compressor.

Modelled after the Diamond Compressor. With a good compression range, it's possible to achieve from a slightly tight the tone to a really squeezed sound. The volume and EQ knobs allow to color and boost the signal, enabling great control.

Get's the job done

Simple, but great tuner. Get's the job done.

lucianorg

Great for the price.

Ibanez's Tube Screamer TS808-like overdrive. It can really warm up your tone.

Good reverb; not so good shimmer

Good reverb, but the shimmer lacks musicality. The spring reverb have a mellow sound, less piercing than the Fender '65 Reverb. The shimmer sounds closer to a fifth than to an octave. Inspired in the Strymon Blue Sky.

and the blue sky was inspired by Bryan eno who used an Eventide H3000 into a reverb to produce what he dubbed 'shimmer verb' in the 80s, most notably with U2... the shimmer verb doesn't have to have an octave up, depending on the song sometimes it could be a 5th or other harmonies depending on the song

lucianorg

Great Info jimmarchi1!

lobberuno

Give it a try putting the Shimverb before the delay or a reverb, it reacts completely different.

Subtle chorus

Similar tone to the Boss CE-2. Subtle effect.
