My view is that we should be as specific as possible.

In practice, that usually means treating an item as distinct when it has a dedicated /p/ page on Reverb, since that gives us the best clarity on year ranges and variations. The same applies when a model is out of production but recognized as a standalone version, such as the faded example.

Colors are duplicates and should be merged.

Colors and finishes are currently a big issue across the site. We’re actively working to consolidate them, and we’d love your input on how to make the duplicate submission or merging process smoother.

Our goal is to make gear easier to find and to better surface reviews, artist usage, and related items. We’re starting with colors, and our plan looks like this:

1. Remove color and finish names from product titles.
2. Consolidate those variations into a single product page so reviews, artist usage, similar items, and specs are all in one place. Making the site easier to explore across all aspects, really.
3. Add structured tags and selectors for variations like finish, year, fretboard type (maple vs. rosewood), or mods. This will also let us map accurate purchase links and photos to the right variation when a product is still in production.

We’ve kicked off step one, but it’s a big project. Let us know what you think. We’d love your ideas!

This one’s a bit tricky, especially since the factory produces guitars for multiple brands.

On the technical side, we can create brand name variations and associate products accordingly. For example, FGN, Fujigen, and Fujigen Gakki. What we need to decide is which name we want to use as the primary.

My vote is for FujiGen, but I’d like to hear your thoughts.

Oh, good catch thanks! I think we remembered to remove the photos from the Gear Gallery when users are flagged as spam, but forgot to do the same on the activity feed. Appreciate you pointing that out; I’ll make a note to fix it soon.

Thanks! I’ll delete this one as well. Maybe we should create a dedicated flagging system for situations like this.

Also, just a heads-up both of these users were already flagged by our internal system as spammers and were in the deletion queue. We usually delay removals slightly in case of false positives. While they’re in that queue, their photos shouldn’t appear publicly, so I’m curious how did you come across these users?

Over the past few months, we’ve been refactoring pages one by one. To speed up updates, we released the latest product pages without replies to comments enabled. While it was already on our to-do list, we moved it up in priority last week after the feedback in this thread. So... I'd say like 3 months.
