I'm assuming you've already talked to the third-party handlers support folks? Sometimes they're insured. If not, did you have insurance on the gear? Since you filed a police report, seems like personal insurance could cover it?

We're in the midst of a redesign, and I'd love the community's feedback as we improve the site.

Today, I wanted to share the color palette we're considering and hear your thoughts!

Essentially, we want to keep the colors similar to how they are now but add some slight variation to give us the flexibility to make the site better featured with new elements. The site will still be minimal and mostly white and black as we know the focus here is on beautiful music gear. We don't want to distract from the visually interesting gear (be it in images or videos). Having said that, what do you all think of the accent colors?

Fun historical fact: The original color palette for Equipboard was inspired by the Gulf-liveried Porsche Steve McQueen drove in Le Mans.

I'd love it if you could arrange it so that our own gear photos collection appears with our most recent uploads at the top of the list, or better still manually sortable like our gear lists.

I'll add this to our to-do list.

I've wondered before whether the Forums might be promoted a bit more prominently on the front page as it does get a bit quiet in here sometimes.

I'll consider this as we redesign our homepage next month. I also want to add forum alerts to the notifications you get in your profile.

Update on recent Equipboard developments:

• We've made improvements to the way product reviews are sorted and displayed. We had an issue of 8-year-old reviews getting stuck to the top due to accruing many upvotes over time. Now our algorithm is more complex and takes into account review recency (giving newer ones the opportunity to shine), review length, as well as upvotes.

  • We've improved the Equipboard gear score. Our score was way too partial to items with a lot of professional artist usage. Now, it considers third-party ratings and reviews and gives items without any user-generated content a chance to get a good score while they accumulate professional artist usage and reviews on Equipboard. This should help surface new gear and give Equipboard reviewers more influence on the gear score.
  • We've added Musician's Friend to our price comparison. We are adding Musician's Friend as an option to purchase, review pricing information, and show rating and review info. This is to give people access to shop at their favorite store and continue to build out the best price comparison and availability information we can.
  • We've changed ad providers. This is to improve speed and reduce the Cummulative Layout Shift (CLS) issues we were having. You should now not have the annoying jumpiness as the page loads on both desktop and mobile devices.

Congrats! I haven't played one yet, but I've heard nothing but good things.

My must-have is a similar pedal. The EarthQuaker Devices Westwood. It not only brightens up my amp and adds some interest (I play a tweed Fender Champ), but the EQ really adds range to that amp.

Thank you all for your feedback on this idea! Just to let you know, I've shelved this idea for now. I hope to revisit it soon, but the version I shared could be much better if it was not exclusively product-focused but did a better job incorporating artists. For that to happen, I want to make some other changes to the site first, which will make the value of the extension higher. Anyway, I just wanted to update everyone, but I'm putting this on hold for now and anticipate giving it a shot in a few months.

I chose them because I wanted a solution that didn’t require soldering. It was pretty easy. You cut the cable to whatever length you want, peel back the protective casing, and screw in the jack.

We have now added the ability to support Thomann links. This means that you can now add items to Equipboard with Thomann URLs here: https://equipboard.com/items/new

We have matched up what we can via the Thomann product feed and are working to add more manually. These will be displayed to everyone and prioritized if you are in the EU.

That's a good idea. Can't hurt to ask. After all, they've shown some love to Equipboard before unsolicited.

Good news. I worked with Thomann to get a product feed in a way we can match up with our database. We should be able to start displaying Thomann links to people in the EU within a couple of weeks.

The first version will not have currency conversion (so price comparison will be less valid), but at least we can eliminate some friction by displaying a correct purchasing link.

I bet I'd like the shorter one when I'm on my laptop screen, and the longer one when I'm on my desktop screen, but they seem to have identical visual priorities, readability and functionality... so whatever the EB style guide (or full-fledged design system) dictates is AOK with me.

Thanks for the feedback. We'll go with the shorter option since I'd rather the info be obvious readable on every screen size rather than the styling being less than ideal for smaller screens.

What constitutes an association in this case? Is it as simple as having the product name mentioned anywhere on the page, or does it have to be a url hosted by someone you're in an affiliate agreement with?

We're going to tie it to URLs of stores we know. That's the more accurate way for V1 since we'll have more conviction in the mapping.

I want to implement a better flagging system for both artist and product pages. Do you have any examples of a flagging or reporting system you like?

For V1, it will pop up or alert you by extension icon when you are on a URL associated with a product where we have an Equipboard association. If you open the extension, it will show you how many people have been associated with that product, link to their equipboard pages and the product page on Equipboard, as well as do a quick price comparison.

Welcome to Equipboard! We will start showing Thomann links soon. The issue is they do not provide a product feed by UPC (I've asked), so it is hard to match up with our current database of products. Having said that, I'll start thinking about the best way to start to display Thomann links.

Yeah, I just got the amp this month and haven't adjusted the board to it yet.

I love the Westwood, which is a very low gain overdrive but has a great EQ for the Champ. Most times, I set the amp at 4ish and really just use the overdrive and my Carbon Copy for slapback, if anything at all.

Tuner. ToneBender clone. Westwood overdrive. Tube screamer. Chorus. Delay.

And I'm loving it for now.
