Akio Shimizu

Akio Shimizu is well-known for having used Schecter Guitars, and has his own signature model that features Seymour Duncan pickups and a Floyd Rose bridge. In live performances, he can also be seen using variants that have EMG pickups.

In this video, Akio Shimizu uses an ESP M-II.

According to a Japanese website Rakuten, Akio Shimizu has his own signature pick with Schecter, which is similar to a typical Dunlop pick.

At the start of the video, Akio Shimizu can be seen using an Ibanez TS-9 as a clean boost to his H&K Duotone amp.

The official Schecter website features the Schecter PA-AAG Akio Shimizu Signature Guitar, highlighting Akio Shimizu's collaboration with the brand to create a more affordable signature model.

At 1:05 in the video, Akio can be seen using a Korg DTR-1 rackmount tuner for live performances.

As a backing vocalist of Anthem, Akio is also seen using a Shure SM58 for the studio session, as well as live performances.

Before Akio switched to Schecter Guitars, he was seen using his own custom shop ESP guitar, which was equipped with EMG pickups on both the bridge and the neck positions.

According to the official Schecter website, Akio Shimizu also has a 30th anniversary variant of his signature guitar, which features an all-maple neck with EMG 85 pickups.

Along with the Hugnes & Kettner Duotone amps, Akio uses 4x12 cabinets by Hughes & Kettner for live performances.
