Bill Steer's Effects Pedals
"GW: What gear and settings do you guys use to get your tone? Steer: Just for simplicity, I only use one amp live--a Peavy 5150 with a Marshall Guv'nor pedal in front of it to beef up the overdrive just that little bit extra. In the studio, though, it's a different matter; I use several different amps--a selection of Marshalls and the 5150."

Bill Steer used the Boss DS-1 Distortion MIJ 1980s in 1987/1988 while with Napalm Death during the recording of the albums "Scum - Side B" and "From Enslavement to Obliteration" as well as on tour. This setup was recorded with a HH VS Musician 2x12 transistor combo amp, though other amplifiers may have been used during touring. Contrary to some beliefs, it was not a Russian Big Muff pedal, as this model did not exist at the time; the earliest prototypes appeared in 1991.
