Description
Unleash your full pedal power while maintaining a clean, hiss-free sound with the MXR M195 Noise Clamp. This pedal is a musician's secret weapon against unwanted noise, working diligently to reduce hiss and excess noise within your effects chain. Whether you're cranking up a single pedal or chaining multiple, the Noise Clamp keeps your sound crisp and clear.
The Noise Clamp uses an intelligent system that senses your guitar's dry signal and springs into action, reducing noise within the effects loop. It's equipped with a Trigger knob that, when adjusted, sets the volume threshold at which the Noise Clamp becomes active. This feature gives you full control over your sound, ensuring that the Noise Clamp is only active when you need it to be.
When the Noise Clamp is in action, a green LED light illuminates, providing a clear visual indication that the gate is active. This pedal is capable of reducing noise up to an impressive 26dB, maintaining your riff's definition even at extreme gain levels.

Works like a charm if you know how to put it right.
Instead of putting my effects in the loop of the Noise Clamp I wire the Noise Clamp in X method with my amp. This not only ensures excellent noise reduction even at highest gain levels but also ensures that the gate responds properly to the guitar input and doesn't suck your tone and signal quality. It's a complicated way but it's indeed the best way for using this pedal with high gain setups.

Does what it claims.
It's fairly cheap and easy to use. It does have some impact on the sustain, but it isn't a big deal.

Decent
Does a nice job of removing unwanted noise, doesn't seem to effect tone like this other noise suppressor I have. Had to connect in x-pattern to be effective, seems to cut out abruptly which usually isn't a problem.

MXR Noise Clamp
This is a great Noise Gate for high gain settings. This is one of the best high gain Noise Gates that I have used.

Bill Steer of Carcass uses the MXR M195 Noise Clamp, as evidenced by a post and photo from Jim Dunlop Guitar Products on Facebook.
"Both players use Furman PL-Plus C power-conditioning units and Maxon OD808 overdrives with gain set pretty low, but Martin cuts out extraneous noise with an iSP Decimator, while Herbert uses an MXR Noise Clamp."
In this video, Ken Susi's pedalboard is shown to consist of an MXR Noise Clamp.
"Hranica admits he frequently changes up his pedalboard, but currently his board starts with an Ernie Ball volume pedal. Its tuner out connects to a Boss TU-3. The volume pedal’s output runs into a MXR Noise Clamp then into a Reuss RSH-02 that he uses as a boost," reads Mike Hranica's rig rundown.
