Dallas Green's Gear
Dallas received this guitar from Schecter (I believe on their tour of ‘Watch Out’. He uses it in the video for ‘No Transitory’ and for a lot of live shows around the time of the release of ‘Watch Out’
In the CBC Music live concert video "City and Colour - A Pill for Loneliness," Dallas Green can be seen using a Vox AC10 amplifier, positioned in the back right of the stage.
The caption to this Instagram post, by Walrus Audio, reads, "Sending these toys off to @cityandcolour_official today."
Unfortunately you cannot hear the LR Baggs M1 Pickup perform in this video, but you can see it very well from every angle. I'm not 100% sure if Dallas uses the active one, but I would go as far as saying that he uses LR Baggs on every single of his acoustics. You can see it in his old Martin 00-17M in this video and also in his new custom 12-fret Martin dreadnought with the orangy honey burst finish.

The new tones, meanwhile, were created with the aid of some choice gear including a boutique Clark Fenderstyle 1x15 combo, Strymon effects, and a 60s Fender Jazzmaster Dallas describes as, “the perfect blend – I can make it sound supergnarly when I need it to, and I can back it off and it can be as clean as the day is long. It’s become my main guitar.”

Dallas Green: “Glen Morris is a guy from Welland, Ontario in Canada and he’s a custom amp builder. He built me a 100-watt head that I used in Alexisonfire for years and years and that’s the best-sounding amp I’ve ever played. When I started doing City And Colour more and more, I wanted him to build me an amp because the 100-watt head would be too loud. The Rock Grinder is usually a two-channel 50-watt Bluesbreaker-type vibe but I didn’t need the two channels so what we did is we took out and disconnected some of the knobs. Now it’s just like a 30-watt single-channel amp, almost like an AC30, but with a bit more to it. This is the amp that’s been with me probably for the last six years and it’s the bulk of my live electric guitar sound. The settings are just pretty much almost in the middle and the grind, which is your gain, is just adjusted depending on what the stage sounds like.”
A folk-sized Gibson acoustic used mostly for the earliest City and Colour solo-acoustic peformances.
This smaller scale guitar is a fantastic example of an instrument made for swift balanced flat picking and fast clear chording, perfectly suited to Dallas' unique playing style.
