Elizabeth Stokes' Effects Pedals
1:02 "Start off with the PolyTune tuner, it's nice to be in tune..."
"Then I've got the Rat, which it's just nice to have right on the board because sometimes my pedals break, and it feels like it can fill in for any of the other ones if something happens. But in the meantime, it's just like that next stage up of distortion" (04:20)
Q: Are you much of a gear nerd? A: "Only a little. I bought a nice MXR Carbon Copy delay last year, and previously I was playing [a delay pedal] I picked up for ten quid so it was quite a step up. The other five pedals on my board are all distortions or fuzzes"
In this YouTube video at around 7:34, Liz shows and talks about the LF7 on her pedalboard.
"I've got a Crowther Hot Cake... which is like my first distortion, my like most transparent one." Liz then mentions adjusting the controls on a song by song basis. (2:34-2:54 roughly)
"I've got this Keeley Compressor which I only use a couple times during the set. I basically have it at maximum level. It's just for the song 'Out of Sight.' It gives [the guitar] a clean boost and [filters out the guitar's low end]" Approx 01:08
At 07:06, Stokes comments "I switched to a Thermae for this tour just because we have a few different tempos I was switching back and forth [between] a lot... In this one it just means I can have a couple of presets." Stokes mentions using an MXR Carbon Copy, a pedal with no tap tempo meaning the user has to approximate a song's tempo using a time knob, for past Beths tours.
In the video, Elizabeth Stokes discusses her pedalboard and how she uses it for live performances. At around 05:12, Stokes talks about her Hoof and describes it as "my fuzz, which I'll use [on the bridge in 'Little Death'] ... [and] I use it for 'Silence is Golden' and I''ll combo it with my [King of Tone clone]"
Elizabeth uses her King of Tone clone to get her Crowther Hotcake to "the next level of distortion" (03:26). According to her, one of the sides is broken.
In the EarthQuaker Devices video titled "Board to Death- Liz Stokes (The Beths)," Elizabeth Stokes uses the CIOKS DC10 to power her effects pedals.
In this photograph of Elizabeth Stokes' pedalboard, taken at The Beths concert in Paris on June 13, 2023, we can see a Joyo JF-14 American Sound pedal.
In a Reddit post titled "The Beths pedalboards" by user HudsonValleyChris, Elizabeth Stokes' pedalboard is shown in the third photo and includes the Cusack Music Pedal Cracker V2.
