Felix Da Housecat

The Pioneer DJM-900 is Felix Da Housecat's DJ mixer of choice. He connects two Traktor Kontrol X1's to it, and likes it for the fact that it comes equipped with a USB sound card that can connect directly to a computer.

Felix Da Housecat can recently be seen DJing with the V-Moda Crossfade M-100 headphones. He tweeted "Chillin' in meeting with @KarlDetkenProDJ @VMODA rockin thee new M-100"

Many photos reveal Felix Da Housecat wears these Pioneer HDJ-1000 headphones while DJing live.

In a video for Native Instruments, Felix Da Housecat shows how he DJs using Traktor DJ software, and how he is able to control everything with hardware using his Traktor Kontrol X1's.

To make sure his tracks flow together well and are in the right key during his DJ set, Felix Da Housecat uses Mixed In Key 5. When asked if he's using version 5 already, he tweets "yeah buddy Traktor kidzz hooked me up, lovin it!"

Felix Da Housecat's DJ setup revolves around Traktor, a Pioneer DJM-900 mixer, and two Traktor Kontrol X1's. In a video for Native Instruments, he says:

"I always use 4 decks, each of these babies controls 2 decks." He likes that fact that using Traktor, he can produce remixes and edits on the fly with the touch of a button, without having to have everything ready beforehand.

"Sometimes I have tracks I haven't prepared and they might need a little nudge or they might go off a bit in the mix, that's where the touch strip comes in... a couple flicks with my finger, and we're locked in."

He talks about how easy it is to browse through tracks on his laptop with touch sensitive browsing. Regarding loops, he likes to use the "touch strip to control loop size, and jump between them."

On hot cues: "I have the flux mode button remapped to give me 2 pages of hot cues... I like to have the juicy moments ready at my fingertips."

Effects: "If i really wanna get crazy, the X1 allows me to assign 4 effects per deck. I can even control effects on the strip."

In a video demonstrating his live DJ setup, Felix Da Housecat can be seen running Traktor software on his MacBook Pro.

In an article from EMusician titled "The Next Episode," Felix Da Housecat is noted to use the Kurzweil MicroPiano among other sound modules and synthesizers in his setup.
