Felix Da Housecat's DJ setup revolves around Traktor, a Pioneer DJM-900 mixer, and two Traktor Kontrol X1's. In a video for Native Instruments, he says: "I always use 4 decks, each of these babies controls 2 decks." He likes that fact that using Traktor, he can produce remixes and edits on the fly with the touch of a button, without having to have everything ready beforehand. "Sometimes I have tracks I haven't prepared and they might need a little nudge or they might go off a bit in the mix, that's where the touch strip comes in... a couple flicks with my finger, and we're locked in." He talks about how easy it is to browse through tracks on his laptop with touch sensitive browsing. Regarding loops, he likes to use the "touch strip to control loop size, and jump between them." On hot cues: "I have the flux mode button remapped to give me 2 pages of hot cues... I like to have the juicy moments ready at my fingertips." Effects: "If i really wanna get crazy, the X1 allows me to assign 4 effects per deck. I can even control effects on the strip."more
In this video MK explains how he switched from the Native Instruments Traktor S4 to the Traktor X1 Mk2 (1:10). He says: "When I first started to learn to DJ, was using the S4 and it was just easier for me, being a new DJ, to grasp everything. And then the X1 came out and I bought two of them, actually. And I started using those and then I started to figure how to use those with other DJ equipment and that kind of worked perfectly. And then when the MK2 came out, I was like, "It got even better." With the touchstrip you can do effects live, you can do loops live... It just made it a lot easier."more
"Native Instruments Kontrol X1 (2) and Kontrol X1 MK2 as back up. I remapped my X1s to fit the way I play; I can do it blindfolded when I’m on, from beat jumps, loop functions and cue points. I normally use Deck C for effects and have all 3 decks running together which I full control from my X1s. I’m a loop freak, if I can have 6 decks looping at some point i can be happy. I also mapped the CDJs which I connect to Traktor on HID mode to give me the same functions as my controllers, sometimes it’s easier to reach them when I’m browsing through my library," says Nicole, in [this article](http://www.djtechtools.com/2015/04/15/artist-gear-setup-nicole-moudaber-2/).more
The next-generation decks and effects controller for TRAKTOR.
The TRAKTOR KONTROL X1 MK2 is the next-generation decks and effects controller for use with Native Instrument's TRAKTOR DJ software. This compact controller is the perfect add-on, engineered for seamless integration with TRAKTOR. Control two decks and two TRAKTOR FX units from a single X1 controller and with the added touchstrip feature in version MK2, you can have instant touch control of filters, fx, track position and more. The RBG backlit touch button triggers allow for a quick and easy identification between cue point loops and markers.
Already the standard for performance DJ controllers, the mighty TRAKTOR KONTROL X1 delivers as much power as portability controlling TRAKTOR decks and effects. Whether DJing all-digital, or using timecode control, the new X1 now delivers added instant control over all essential DJ functions on 2-track decks for seamless command of TRAKTOR software and a design that feels instantly familiar.
TRAKTOR KONTROL X1's eight knobs and buttons control up to three effects on two of the four effect units. An ultra-intuitive layout puts browse, cue, sync, and loop controls right where you need them while touch-sensitive browser and loop controls provide smart software navigation. Pro-grade, RGB backlit buttons and displays give instant visual feedback during your set - direct, fluid communication with TRAKTOR PRO or TRAKTOR SCRATCH.
On the fly remixing has also never been easier as direct access to TRAKTOR's Flux mode now allows you to juggle cue points and loop effects without missing a beat.
Take physical control of your music with or without turntables or CDJs. TRAKTOR KONTROL X1 now includes a multi-purpose touch strip that delivers ultra-precise command over track position, pitch bend, and even FX at the swipe of a finger. Digital displays and LED indicators provide visual feedback so you know where you stand when the night is in full swing.
Control one or both decks simultaneously. From nudging or needle dropping, to quick access playback functions like track seeking or loop length, the touch strip's default settings instantly adapt to match your needs - your fingers do the rest.
Boasting reactive performance behaviors, TRAKTOR KONTROL X1 takes care of the details behind the scenes. The advanced Browse and Loop encoders respond to touch and command TRAKTOR to access different views or functions - just touch the Browse encoder to see the full-sized Browser list. Touching the Loop encoder while holding SHIFT+PLAY lets you see the key of your track. Touching the Loop encoder while holding SYNC lets you see the tempo.
The touch strip also interprets functions based on deck status - when stopped, it's assigned to track seeking or needle dropping. When playing, pitchbend is activated. For your own trademark sound, assign the touch strip to control any effect parameter in seconds.
Whether you're looking for a effective tool to boost your creativity or a stylish one-stop solution for maximum portability and power, the next-generation X1 ticks all the boxes.
