Review: Native Instruments Traktor Pro 3.1

musictech.com

Traktor Pro 3.1 brings a sleek interface and notable enhancements, including improved audio quality and innovative Mixer FX, making it a substantial upgrade for many DJs. The parallel waveforms and better CPU handling are positive strides forward, especially for those accustomed to more modern software. However, the unchanged browser and lack of smart playlist functionality are glaring oversights that may frustrate long-time users. Ultimately, while the new features and aesthetic updates are commendable, the core music management experience feels dated, leaving some DJs feeling like they’re still missing out on essential tools.

Native Instruments Traktor Pro 3 - is it worth upgrading?

idmmag.com

Traktor Pro 3 offers a mix of intriguing upgrades and disappointing let-downs for seasoned users. While the new time-stretch algorithm and reverse playback mode are commendable additions, the software’s focus on aesthetics and hardware integration may leave many veterans wanting more functionality. Improvements in CPU usage and loading times are welcome, yet the lack of significant new features for existing Traktor Pro 2 users makes the $49 upgrade feel underwhelming. For newcomers, however, the $100 price tag represents solid value. Ultimately, it’s a mixed bag that caters more to new users than to loyal fans.

It's industry-standard for a reason!

I'm not much of a DJ (I prefer buttons and knobs to turntables), but I much prefer Native Instruments Traktor over Ableton Live when it comes to performance software. With two-or-four-deck mixing capabilities, built-in samplers, and insane MIDI mapping capabilities (in some cases even more flexible than Live!), I can get Traktor working with as much or as little gear as I need, in any style of play I'd like.

Whether you're a seasoned DJ or a beginner to performing electronic music at all, Traktor was a HUGE help getting me out there and I submit that it will be the same for you.

Just as good as Serato

It's the great debate, which is better, Traktor vs. Serato? I can't tell you the other side of things as I've never been a Serato user but Traktor gets the job done, and nicely! The UI is clean and easy to navigate and can be customized in all sorts of ways to suit your style of DJing. It comes fully loaded with all the features you could ask for including 8 custom cue points per deck, 30+ effects, 4 individual FX units, loop recorder, the ability to adjust the colour of your wave forms, and that's just scratching the surface.

been using traktor for years`

For my regular DJ shows, radio show and "boiler room" sets Traktor has always been there for me since the early days. Came up with it, still support it. Great for technical DJs who use a lot of pre-planning and FX, cues and loops. I feel like I still have to use Rekordbox to prep but Traktor is solid for anything else.

Best Switch

Not sure about anyone else, but I absolutely fell in love with Traktor recently after making a switch from Serato to Traktor. It is definitely more flexible with Traktor being able to use most (if not all) MIDI controllers with it, although some needs to be custom mapped, but it works. Serato is a bit less flexible with this, considering only certain equipment unlock the use of Serato and not being able to plug in any controller and just map it.

Traktor Pro 2 is Awesome.

First time was inspired by Zedd , started to use this software for DJ Performance. And Traktor was Amazing, easy to use & compatible with many DJ Controller or CDJ+DJM as well. Colorful waves make happy, cool sound quality, effects sound so real, easy to use. Can mix without connect to the DJ, nice when can mix anywhere just using laptop as alternative.

Great DJ software

Have been really happy with Pro 2, looking forward to digging my hands into Pro 3 now that I've just snagged it! I am not a super advanced DJ, but have not found it hard to learn.

For Advance Level And Mixing

After Using Virtual DJ For Quite Some Time, I Decided To Bring My Skill Up To The Next Level By Using Taktor Scratch Pro 2. To Be Honest, It Really More Complicatied Than Virtual DJ But I Manage To Learn Each Of It Function Within 2 Weeks. My Opinion Better Than Virtual DJ !

One of the best DJ Software's out there.

Traktor Pro 2 is an amazing software for DJ-ing. It offers a ton of options and overall works pretty damn well. It is a bit hard to get used to when transitioning from other software such as Virtual DJ. But once you do, you're golden.
