George Jones' Gear
Mentioned by sound engineer John Kelton in this Mix Online article about Kickin Out the Footlights... Again.
"The board was an SSL 9000 J and Starstruck has a good bit of outboard equipment that we used, too,” Kelton says. “For tape we used a Studer 827 16-track for the drums and bass and a Studer 827 24-track for everybody else. That was fed into a Pro Tools HD system. I mixed on an SSL 4056 G+ at Keith's studio and mixed to the new 900 [tape] that used to be the Emtec; this is the first thing we've done on it. We used the Ampex ATR-100 half-inch. For mics, Merle was an old Neumann 47 into a Martech preamp and LA-2 compressor that was hardly used at all. George was an older-stock U87 into a Martech into a Teletronix LA1 compressor that we've used with him for a while. There was no EQ on either one of them.”
Developed in collaboration with Jones.
A mint condition George Jones D-41 Signature Edition from Martin signed by the man himself. This is #90 of 100 and is in pristine condition. Kept in the case by the previous owner and not taken out. The strap end pin has never been installed, nor has this been played barely, if at all. A legend of country music with the release of his first hit “White Lightening” in 1959 till his death at 81 in 2013, “The Possum” inspired generations of musicians, country or otherwise. This very limited run of the D-41GJ had the right amount of sparkle George wanted for the stage and the meat and bones of a classic Martin dreadnought. Hoe chose Premium Engelmann Spruce for the top paired with Rosewood back and sides, scalloped Pearl hexagon inlays designed by Dick Boak for the fret board along with his signature, 41 style Pearl top purflings, forward shifted scalloped bracing, grained ivoroid bindings and more.
This is true classic collectible Martin. With the passing of George in 2013 and not to mention the pristine condition of this guitar, this D-41GJ will only increase in value over time. Perfect for a huge fan of “The Possum” or as an investment.
Includes original deluxe #545 Geib hardshell case.
Jones' autographed 1982 D-41 was presented to Little Jimmy Dickens on September 21, 2006. The same guitar was later sold by Gruhn Guitars from Dickens' estate.

Featured in this Penn Live article. The ca. 1957 guitar was recovered by Jones in 2008, 46 years after being stolen from him.
An entire website is dedicated to the history of Jones' Gene Autry Round-up, which was his first guitar. It was gifted to a nine-year-old Jones by his father. Jones later etched his name into the guitar when he was eleven years old.
