In an interview with iBass magazine Horace revealed how he acquired the instrument "I bought myself a Gibson Thunderbird for my 50th birthday. I remember the first reggae band I ever saw were The Cimarons, and their bass player played a Gibson Thunderbird and he looked great!”

This is the Fender Precision Bass Horace used to record Ghost Town with The Specials. He subsequnelty sold the bass before reacquiring it in 2017.

In the article Horace states that “I occasionally wondered what had happened to it and had a hankering to get it back, so it was always in the back of my mind. It was quite a shock to see it up on the wall in Noise Works. It was odd to realise that I had such a personal attachment to what is basically a piece of wood but a musical instrument is more than that.
