Ilan Rubin used to be an Orange County Drum & Percussion (OCDP) artist before switching to Q Drum Co, and eventually to Gretsch. The OCDP drum kit sizes he used include: 20x22 (kick drum), 5x14 (snare), 8x10, 10x12, 12x14, 14x16, and 16x18 (toms). Additionally, he had snares sized 5x14 with 20-ply vented, red sparkle, and die-cast hoops, and 7x14 with 10-ply and 6-ply reinforcement rings, Type 5 gloss black with skulls and pinstripes in red sparkle hi gloss, gloss black P.C., and tube lugs. The kit also featured options like black gloss P.C., 10" and 12" hanging Rims mounts, and 14", 16", and 18" floor tom Rims mounts. This kit was used on The New Regime album "Speak Through The White Noise," on Angels & Airwaves' "The Dream Walker," and during live performances with Angels & Airwaves, as confirmed by Reverb.

At 0:10 in the Rhythm Magazine interview, Ilan Rubin states, "The drum set I've been using most recently with Paramore is a set made out of copper shells with maple reinforcement hoops, and the sizes of those are 13x9 (rack tom), 16x16 (floor tom 1), 18x16 (floor tom 2), 24x16 (kick drum)," confirming his use of the Q Drum Co. Copper Kit.

Ilan Rubin uses a Gretsch Broadkaster Drum Set, as evidenced by his Instagram post where he stated, "Had a fun session yesterday at East West studio 3! It was fun to finally record in the 'Pet Sounds' room. Every other session I’ve done there has been in studio 2. This is the 24, 13, 16, 18 version of this @gretschdrums broadkaster kit which I generally use for sessions. I have a 26, 14, 16, 18 version for my own playing/recordings."

Ilan Rubin has confirmed his use of the Gretsch Brooklyn Drum Kit, as evidenced by his Instagram post on December 27, 2023. In his post, he mentions, "Got out of the house for a few hours today and the grooves were a-plenty. This @gretschdrums Brooklyn kit is my first bop kit and it is a delight!"
