The 1964 Gibson Dove is claimed to have been the designated recording guitar of Jim Croce. According to Tommy West, the producer of his albums, all three of them were recorded using that very guitar. Jim bought it at the end of the 1960's for West. When Croces had to sell almost all of their guitar equipment due to financial problems, he was allowed to use the Gibson during concerts. Originally, the guitar had a cherry sunburst finish and had a tune-o-matic bridge, later replaced with a fixed one by Phil Petillo.
