Jonny Greenwood's Keyboards and Synthesizers

In this user-uploaded Tumblr photo, Jonny Greenwood is pictured with the Yamaha DX7 synthesizer, highlighting its role in his setup.

Used by Jonny in studio. He played it during the March 1998 attempt at recording Big Boots. Some say that Thom or Jonny used the synth quite a lot during the Kid A/Amnesiac sessions, though I don’t know if those sounds are actually from the Rogue. It has also been mistakenly claimed to have been used on 2+2=5, when the synth used on that song is quite probably the Martenot.

Radiohead used a heavily downsized setup for their 2010 Haiti Benefit show, and Jonny decided to use an ARP Solina String Ensemble for all of his synth-string and Mellotron parts. For the Haiti Benefit show, Jonny played the Solina on Street Spirit, Airbag, Lucky, Exit Music (for a film), and Dollars and Cents.

Jonny began using the Ondes Martenot during the recording of Radiohead's Kid A, and has used it in many of his subsequent projects. His advocacy of the instrument helped revived public interest in it after years of falling into obscurity.

Jonny used the Korg Prophecy in the studio version of "Lift", he also used it in the live concerts, as shown in the source, you can see Jonny playing the Korg Prophecy at minute 2:23.

Jonny's Korg Prophecy was the band's "secret weapon" during the "Ok Computer" sessions between 1995-1998. Besides using the Prophecy on "Lift", it was also used on the studio version of "Airbag" and "Climbing Up The Walls", on these tracks he used it as an attempt to emulate an Ondes Martenot (that's why when he got a real Ondes Martenot he got rid of the Prophecy before the Kid A/Amnesiac sessions). You can also see the Prophecy in action in live performances of the tracks "Talk Show Host", "Planet Telex", and "Paranoid Android" (the latter he only used it once live) between 1996 and 1998.

One small but notable revelation of the MINIDISCS [Hacked] is that the song Melatonin was initially called “Crumar Song”. The studio recording of Melatonin begins with a stripped-back arrangement of just two string synthesizers panned left and right, and these synths form the foundation of the song. The MINIDISCS version (at 7:19 on track/disc 7) is even more stripped back – just Thom and the string synthesizer. It’s a recording that feels much too personal to listen to, giving a glimpse of Thom shakily throwing down the barest sketch of song to review and refine later on. However, the title lets us know that the particular string synthesizer which Thom used for Melatonin is the band’s Crumar Multiman-S (marketed in the United States as the Crumar “Orchestrator”). If the Crumar was purchased while Nigel was building Radiohead’s studio in 1996, then perhaps Melatonin was inspired by this new bit of gear. https://thekingofgear.com/post/185552511800/radioheads-crumar

In a YouTube video of Jonny Greenwood performing "Taq ou Dub," he is seen adjusting the "VCA Decay" control on the Moog DFAM - Drummer From Another Mother. The video also shows a blue patch cable connecting the DFAM's "VCO 1" output to the "Velocity" input, adding "LFO" modulation. Additionally, a yellow patch cable connects the "Sync Out" on the T8 to the "Clock / ADV" input on the Moog, synchronizing the devices. This visual evidence confirms Jonny Greenwood's use of the Moog DFAM in his setup.
