In this video JD explains that in his Music Man JP guitars he has fishman pickups. These pickups are used with a fishman rechargeable battery pack. this is in replace of traditional 9v battery. Fishman created this to be more environmentally friendly

In this Gear Masters video JD explains that he uses custom Music Man JP6 guitars. what seperates these from the Music Man production models are the pickups, and custom colors he opts for. JD opts Fishman pickups in his guitars instead of the dimarzio set that comes stock in the JP6 and 7. He uses the Fluence classic set in his 6 strings, and the Fluence modern set in his 7 strings

JD uses custom Music Man JP7 guitars. This is the seven string version of the JP6 6 strings that he also uses. In most of his guitars he has a set of fishman pickups. for 6 string he uses the fluence classics, while in 7 strings he opts for the fluence modern humbuckers.
