In this video JD explains that in his Music Man JP guitars he has fishman pickups. These pickups are used with a fishman rechargeable battery pack. this is in replace of traditional 9v battery. Fishman created this to be more environmentally friendly

JD opts Fishman pickups in his guitars instead of the dimarzio set that comes stock in the JP6 and 7. He uses the Fluence classic set in his 6 strings, and the Fluence modern set in his 7 strings
