Marcus King's Guitars
In this Premier Guitar Rig Rundown interview, Marcus King talks about his ES-345.
Yeah, this is kind of a reissue model. It’s a 345 that Gibson was kind enough to send to me. And I was playing my grandfather’s for a while and it just got, I got scared of taking it on the road.
When talking about the gear he used on his "El Dorado" album, King states "Man, I got locked in on this Tele that belongs to Dan [Auerbach] and I ended up using it on a great deal of the record. Even on the slide solo to “Turn It Up,” and I’ve never gotten a good slide tone with single-coils. That guitar … there’s something about it. It’s a ’62, nothing particularly crazy about it, but I really love that Tele."
“I actually picked up this 1965 original maple-cap on this tour. ... This guitar really spoke to me, it’s the kind of Tele I’ve had my eye on since I was a kid, that blonde Tele from the mid-60s."
At 6:50 in this Rig Rundown video from Primier Guitar, Marcus King says:
Everybody needs a good Strat in their arsenal. This one, courtesy of the kind folks at Carter Vintage for all your vintage guitar needs, Carter Vintage Guitars. So this one I found it over there. It's a '62 and the neck on it is just sweet as pie. It was orange, someone had refinished it like a burnt orange color, which I wasn't really feeling. My dad has got a '64 Strat that yellowed and smoky and just all the good stuff. So I sent it down to my good friend Matt Hughes at Banker Guitars and asked him if he could finish it. I sent him my dad's Strat and this one and he just made it look identical. Just a really good paint job. Great Strat.

Starting at 2:45, Marcus shows off Les Paul Goldtop, stating "I played his [Duane Allman's] Goldtop a few times down in Macon, and I just really fell in love with the look and just, you know, being a Duane Allman fan for such a long time and always wanting a Goldtop; they [Gibson] were kind enough to send me one."

So our brothers at Rockbridge Guitar out of Charlottesville, Virgina made this one and brought it to the show. They brought a few of them and this one really struck my fancy. It’s the Smeck model. Real short neck, but it just really projects and puts out a lot of sound. I just fell in love with the guitar as soon as I played it.
At 5:38 of his Premier Guitar Rig Rundown, Marcus mentions that he has a "'61 0-18" that he keeps at home.
