On this message board on gearspace.com Neil was asked what Keyboards he used on Queensryche’s Rage for Order album. He said,

“I think it was either a DX7, or possibly another Yamaha digital synth, which was sort of a DX7 rack, with numerous modules that you could stack sounds etc. We also had other synths in addition to the Emulator 2, so it's also possible that any voices were added on another track. I don't remember doing much MIDI stacking on RfO.”

Neil Kernon confirms his use of the E-Mu Emulator II for keyboard work, stating, "As far as keyboards went, some of the sounds were from a Roland Juno, but mainly we used an Emulator 2, along with several other popular keyboards at the time, things like Yamaha DX7 etc. A huge amount of the keyboard work was sampling, and we used raw material from field recordings that I did in Vancouver and Seattle, along with other things we grabbed from TV and radio broadcasts etc. All of that was manipulated using the Emulator and a Mac Plus computer."
