Phil Palmer

Phil Palmer used a late 1980s Fender Eric Clapton Stratocaster which was painted Torino Red. He used it for stage work with Dire Straits. This guitar was also a gift from Eric Clapton.

In the YouTube video "All Along the Watchtower" by Paul Carrack, Phil Palmer is seen using the Mesa/Boogie V-Twin as his lead or crunchy pedal. He also employs an Ernie Ball volume pedal to adjust the gain.

In this source, Phil Palmer is using a early Fender Eric Clapton Stratocaster which he got as a present from Eric Clapton. It's got the Lace-Sensor-Pickups.

When Phil Palmer was on tour with Eric Clapton during his Journeyman World Tour from 1989 until 1991, Phil Palmer used the DBX 160A Compressor in his effects rack.

Phil Palmer used this Godin nylon string guitar for the performance of "Can't Find My Way Home" and "Running On Faith" on Eric Clapton's Journeyman Tour.

In a Interview he recalled: “My main acoustic is a Maton, which is an Australian instrument. It’s fabulous — the best acoustic guitar I have ever played by a mile. It’s not too big, it’s not too small, it has an even sound, you can hear all the strings all the time, and the intonation is incredible. They’re hand built from Australian woods. It has a piezo and an internal microphone, and you can mix the two signals. I use 54-12 bronze strings, quite heavy, usually Dean Markley or Ernie Ball, but if it’s the right gauge it doesn’t matter to me who they’re made by. Phil Palmer is using a Marshall 1960A cabinet alongside the Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier for stage work.

On top of the Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier and Marshall 1960A Halfstack rig we spotted a Boss TU-3 Tuner.

This guitar was used by Palmer for the performance of "Can't Find My Way Home" by Blind Faith at Eric Clapton's first run of orchestra nights in 1990.
