“There were three of these 300 series amps,” says Bendinelli. “The original two were Mark IIBs, and this is one of them. They’re all dated 1981, and Prince had them by the time he did the 1999 tour. --- They had 180 watts of clean headroom, and it was a big, loud sound onstage.
Prince liked the C+ better, because it had a lot more punch and headroom in the preamp. I carried one of the 300 series Mark IIBs home with me, updated it to a C+, and sent it back. So Prince ended up with three C+ heads—one original and two converted."
There’s a few of pictures of Prince using the Mesa/Boogie Heartbreaker heads. Here’s other link of a picture where he is playing Feel Better, Feel Good, Feel Wonderful on the Jay Leno show in 2009 where you can see the Heartbreaker heads https://prince.org/msg/7/429783?pg=154
Earlier in his career (I believe) he was playing through Soldano SLO-100 heads and he has also been seen playing Orange AD140HTC heads with Orange 412 cabinets.
“This is a very rock-oriented record, so we worked a little harder on the distortion tones,” says Buff, when asked about the guitar-recording process for Rave. “There were a couple of tracks where we just plugged straight into an amp—typically a Peavey Delta Blues 1x15 or a Tech 21 Trademark 60—but The Artist also had his complete guitar system in the studio so that he could use all his pedals. I’d often mic the [Dutch-made, Celestion Vintage 30 loaded] Koch 4x12 or Peavey 5150 4x12 cabinets with a Shure SM57 and an Audix D2 placed on two different speaker cones. Sometimes we used a room mic to capture some depth—usually something fancy like an AKG C12A, a Neumann U67, or a Neumann U47 FET.
Prince used the Mesa/Boogie Lone Star 2x12 Combo Amp during his project with 3rd Eye Girl, as discussed on prince.org.
One brand that seems to have made an impression on him is Mesa Boogie. He has been seen playing several models of Mesa Boogie amplifiers throughout the years such as the Heartbreaker, Nomad, and Lonestar as well as a Strategy 500 power amp paired with a Soldano/Caswell preamp.
In a video of Prince & The NPG's Gold Experience Tour aftershow in Brussels on March 28, 1995, Prince can be seen using a Marshall JCM 900 4500 guitar amplifier head.
An absolutely huge guitar amp with a crazy 180 watts of headroom, Prince owned three Mesa Mark IIC+ heads around the recording of Purple Rain, and the amp was seen in his touring rig up until the 1999 Tour. Apparently, one of the heads somehow ended up in a music shop in Minneapolis, where it was purchased by an unsuspecting fan who later discovered it was Prince's backup head - not bad for a cheeky second-hand purchase.

What guitars are you playing on the Musicology tour?
I’m using a Gretsch 6120N New Nashville, a Hamer Monaco III, and a Taylor acoustic. I run the electrics though a Genz-Benz El Diablo amp with a Genz-Benz 2x12 cabinet, and my onstage effects consist of Line 6 DS-4 and DM-4 pedals, a Fulltone Fat Boost overdrive, an EBS BassIQ envelope filter, and a Dunlop Cry Baby 535.

Spotted :50s in, on top of his Mesa Boogie cabinets.
From a Reverb online article:
"Prince had requested an amp with a lot of clean headroom that could be used as a pedal platform. Soldano built eight of these amps for him. 4 were built for Prince, and 4 were built for his guitarist, Donna Grantis.
This amp sounds nothing at all like a typical Avenger. It has a very clean tone, with no distortion whatsoever. The clean sound is closer to the Lucky 13 than to any other Soldano amp I've owned. It's a great sounding amp, and as designed, it excels when being used as a pedal platform.
These amps can be seen on stage during Prince's performances from 2014 on, including his most recent performance from Saturday Night Live."
These Mesa heads were usually paired with either Mesa Recto 4x12 cabs or Marshall 4x12 cabs loaded with Vintage 30’s (the Marshall’s).

Prince used Bag End D-12Ms live with his Mesa/Boogie Mark II amplifiers from 1982 to 1992.
